The air flow meter adjust the mixture ( fuel /Air) to the intake . as the engine RPM increase if there is a irregularity when the throtle is increased then yes that would solve the problem . make sure first there are no vacume leaks this will make the same effect.

Yes that could cause the issues you are seeing. but there is a few other sensors that could also cause this. namely the egr valve and the throttle position sensor. out of the 3 the throttle sensor is the cheapest then the air flow sensor with the most expensive being the egr valve if you are wanting to guess. i would recommend getting a book and a meter to test the sensors before you replace them or take it to a reputable shop for repair.

Why do the rpms stop between 2500-5000 on a 2002 Lincoln LS

There are a few reasons to limit RPM which can be a "Limp home" mode activating. But most show a code of some sort with a dash light. Another area is the automatic braking for the "Traction control" which in some models can also have a control to throttle the engine down to prevent wheel slippage.

Blocked catalytic converters can limit RPM by choking the exhaust flow. You have crankshaft and camshaft sensors which count the RPM and send signals to the brain and the fuelpump. Your crankshaft sensor regulates the fuel pressure and if it miscounts, the engine can be fuel starved.

Not all scanners are the same. One that reports fuel pressure while simultaneously reporting RPM would be something to know for fuel starvation.

You can kind of eliminate some possibilities by whether "Check engine" or "Traction control" warnings are on.

Lincoln 2002 LS has low power at higher speeds and wants to turn off at idle. Also shakes a little at idle. Could it be miss firing?

The EGR Valve could be an issue

Almost certain you will have 1 or 2 bad cop
ignition coils a year,so misfire ,yes

Could be several other problems

Need the correct spark plugs, they are special
to the LS,anything will fit,but not work right

O2 Sensors have to get changed at 100,000 miles

MAF Sensor Cleaned

V6 or V8

V8 is a lot easier to work on & less issues

05 Lincoln LS 3.0 V6. Outside air temp 32F. Idle decay when cold

This sounds like you have a pcv hose that has become an open vacuum leak. It is located under the upper intake, or given the year your air filter box may not be correctly sealed and possibly have a mass air flow sensor concern. Any Check engine light or codes to work with ? I f you have further questions just leave a comment on my page,

2002 Lincoln LS V6. AC blowing hot air but sometimes it works fine and blows cool. Is it a sensor problem?

its probably the compressor cutoff switch cutting your compressor off at the wrong time and causing your ac to blow hot. that switch is under your hood right on top of the engine easy to get to. I hope that helps you out!

At about 3,000 rpm's engine starts to pulse.

not sure but it could be air flow meter ,or loose pipe to brake servo ,evan a inlet manifold loose

Location: Coolant Temp Sensor 2001 Lincoln LS V6

It is on the Driver side of engine in between the COP's (Coil on plugs) simply unplug the wire use a 19 or 3/4 deep well socket and unscrew it and put it new one... The whole process should only take 10-15 minutes.
