Antitheft alarm on our 2001 mercury sable goes off on its own

Our antitheft alarm on our 2001 mercury sable keeps going off on its own; I think there is something that sets those alarms off in our neighborhood because our's is not the only one going off every night. Any idea how I disconnect that alarm?

Thanks, but it's become a nuisance. We had electrical problems with the lights/alarms awhile back and neither were ever fixed entirely. We still have to manually turn on/off the lights and this alarm still goes off on its own. It is a nuisance as it goes off nearly every night. So thanks, but I'm really looking for the answer to how to disconnect it altogether.

Thanks, but it doesn't matter where the car is parked. In Atlanta, at a camp in the boonies, anywhere. It started way back when we had to have the car hauled in to replace the keys my son lost. If we used the new key on the trunk instead of using the keyless entry, the alarm would go off. So we just didn't do that anymore. It went from an occasional problem that seemed to be preventable to being a daily nuisance. I'd be fine with the thieves stealing it - I never want another Ford/Mercury.

Get a new car! JK - my 2002 Sable does the same thing. It can be 5 times a day then not for a month, or 2-3 times a day for a week straight. It happens in different locations and different weather and different times of the day. To my knowledge has never done it in my garage at home.
I have not called a dealer. Has anybody ever found the real problem? Could it be in the remote itself? I tried leaving it unlocked at work, but yesterday it went off just as I was reaching toward the door handle.

Yep, have a 2003 Sable alarm goes off in cold weather, as well as other stupid problems. Never, never again!

Now I placed a sign next to it "Place steal"!

IF I WERE A THIEF, THAT'S JUST WHAT I WOULD WAIT FOR AND THEN STEAL. PLEASE DON'T DISARM THE ALARM. IT SERVES IT'S PURPOSE. PUT YOUR PORCH LIGHT ON. IF THE CAR ALARM STAYS OFF, THEN CHANCES ARE THERE ARE THIEVES IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD. LEAVE THE PORCH LIGHT ON IF IT WORKS TO KEEP AWAY THE THUGS. I HOPE THIS HELPS. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA.

Antitheft system keep goes on I can't start vehicle

Use the remote to deactivate alarm or use key in the door lock to unlock the door. The problem you had is when you lock the door and the alarm activates it must see a disarm signal or else it thinks someone broke the window and used the switch to open the door.

Mercury Mountaineer car alarm sounds for no reason

Try using the doorkey after the door has been closed as if you did not have power locks. But most of the time, its automatic with the antitheft.

A shorting battery can activate the antitheft system. Have the battery tested.

How do you bypass the alarm system so the car will start?

The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well.

Car wont start after alarm goes off, how do i first of all make it start and then totally dissasemble the alarm system?

Are you talking about an actual alarm system, or the built in antitheft system? If its the antitheft, which is a common GM problem, this link will help. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

Theft light keeps flashing and the car won't start murcury sable 2004

The theft light will only blink rapidly while cranking if the immobilizer inside the ignition switch isn't reading the CHIP inside the key. the immobilizer is part of the factory antitheft system. they don't normally go bad, but the key could have lost its programming. or if you had a copy made with just a metal key without the chip in it. the dealership can reprogram it for you if that is the problem.

Has anyone figured this problem out? Our 2002 Sable just started this as well...instrument cluster lights out, turn/hazard lights on when the headlight switch is turned on. This has the auto on/off switch with fog lights. This is happening in the auto and manual on mode. Any solutions would be appreciated.<br />
