Have a 95 jaguar xj6 with a dead battery. key does not work in trunk. when I tried to get powder to the trunk release button the alarm sounds until I disconnect the battery pack

May not be the answer but something I just learned. I was handed the "key" to my aunt's XJ6 and she asked me to clean it up for her,,, but what I found was that the "key" she handed me was the VALET key and would not open the trunk. I had to go back and get the other key from her. The VALET key was green while the masters that open all are black.

ok, if the key won't open this then the lock is jammed and if you don't want to damage anything, I know I wouldn't, I would take it to a mechanic. The jammed may have been what killed your battery if the valet trunk open was not working it may have been shorted out. There is a way to jump vehicles with the battery in the trunk like that but I am not familiar with it and if the buttin doesn't work to release the trunk it would do you no good anyway. most likely you are looking at replacing teh truck locking mechanism.

mine sometime does the same thing. try flipping your switch then pressing the button (this works for mine when it won't open with the key or just by pressing the button alone)

Yes there is a fuse for the trunk opener.also,do you have a valet switch to shut it off?
