Will a bad oil pressure gauge sensor cause your truck to run rough like it's falling on its face while downshifting? Or does it indeed have a probable transmission issue developing and should sell?

It's a 2000 Isuzu Trooper 2wd, has 200500 miles on it

Test the oil pressure to be sure sensor is indeed faulty before selling.

SOURCE: low oil pressure 93 GMC P/U w/350 motor w/205,000 miles gauge

While engine is running, open the cover where you add oil to engine and see if you see a good flow of oil, if good flow, could be as easy as replacing oil sending sensor. got to realize that if poor maintenance history your engine may not be building enough pressure at iddle to move your hydraulic operated valves, only when you rev it up it will pump enough to run smooth. if running engine too long, you may cause more damage to other engine components such as crankshaft and cam shaft bearings. if you can spare a few bucks, have a good mechanic check your oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. another cheap option is to replace oil pump. last resort if you love your truck as much as we do,replace engine or rebuild it. At 205,000 this is a normal symptom, other than timing chain problems, most engines don't make it that far. hope this helps!

SOURCE: 2000 isuzu trooper: OBD-II Trouble Code: P0401 Insufficient EGR F

Your SUV is really giving you a hard time, lol. Sorry but I've had those days too.
I would try to check if you have blocked EGR passages. If ok check for restricted MAP sensor vacuum hose/passage or restricted exhaust. I know you replaced the CAT but if the muffler is blocked then there would still be a restriction. Also check the wiring and connection to the MAP sensor.

87 Ranger 2.9 man 2WD. rough at idle acceleration falls off between 25 to 75% Wo stumbles and picks up. Both pumps running will a bad fp reg cause a low fuel press condition, or is it the HP pump?

First hook up a manual fuel pressure gauge and position the face of the gauge where you can read it while driving. Your readings will direct you to the problem or problems. If your pressure drops, could be a bad regulator, fuel pump, or a fuel filter that is restricted. Also could have blockage in the fuel line or the fuel pump screen. Check the throttle position switch to see if it is working properly. Also do an upper throttle body cleaning including the TBAV. Throttle body air pass valve.

Not getting oil pressure when turned on runs rough, oil pressure gauge is pegged high on 99Bonneville SE

I suspect the gauge/sender/ or wiring is bad. Does the gauge peg with the key on, but engine not running? An engine wont run long(maybe 10 min with no oil pressure). suspect gauge has nothing to do with a rough running.

Rough idle

Low oil pressure is caused by bad bearings, low oil level. faulty oil filter, pump pressure regulator faulty and wrong grade of oil .AS to the other run the fault codes to check for faulty sensors.( probably MAF sensor )

Would the oxygen sensorr on a 1995 Chevy blazer 43 vortex cause rough idleing & loss of power oil pressure gauge stopped reading stays on zero check gauge light is on

Yes, but also could be some oil pressure sensor go to bad, if the ECU sense this problem, will turn off the engine.

Oil pressure gauge reads zero, engine appears to be running fine with no noises what so ever, no oil leaks, oil level is normal.

The oil pressure should be verified by removing the oil pressure sending unit and installing a gauge to take a direct reading. If the oil pressure is ok, the problem is most likely a bad pressure sensor (although it could also be a bad gauge or circuits).

If the gauge verifies that the oil pressure is indeed low, then the oil pan needs to come of for an inspection of the oil pick-up tube and the engine bearings.

1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass, While driving down the highway, oil pan light came on and car started putting and died. Was able to get car to start again but only with giving it some gas. When it did start it...

Hi. This issue has several causes, but the oil light indicator is a strong sign of low pressure in the engine. This will cause the engine lubrication rate to drop, thus, producing a illuminated oil light, and erratic Oil pressure readings. The necessary actions are to have a manual oil pressure test ran on this engine, asap. When running a manual oil pressure test, you will discover if the true oil pressure is low, or normal. If the test proves that the oil pressure is, indeed, low, this will confirm that the Oil pump is suspect.

Now, if the true readings given during the manual oil pressure test are indicating that the pressure is normal, this will be the result of a failed sending unit(oil pressure switch). Although the oil pressure is suspect, this is not your only issue here. There seems to be a abnormal compression rate, present. This is causing the rough idle, and erratic RPMs. I recommend to administer a engine block compression test, as well. This test will discover if , indeed, there are issues within the cylinder heads, and block structure, such as a worn head gasket, cylinder wall issues, and cracked block. Normally, these issue will send signs, like white, or gray smoke out the tail pipe, or discolored oil. It will, also, promote erratic RPM ratings, and a rough idle. Have the oil pressure test, and engine block compression test ran, asap.

Once the test are administered, you will be able to isolate the actual problem areas, more accurately. Check the spark plug wire sets, and ignition assembly for faults, also.

Oil pressure gauge falls to o pressure when idling

Depending on mileage, there could be several causes.

If it is high mileage there is a good chance that the oil pump is worn or the oil pick-up screen is plugged with sludge. Low oil pressure is also caused by bearings being worn. If it is low mileage this is probably not the case.

There is also a chance that the oil pressure sending unit (sensor) is bad, thus causing false readings.

I have a 1993 jaguar sov, 4.0 strait 6 cylinder, the oil gauge drops down to nothing and the car starts running rough, is the oil pump internal or external, and how big of a job is it to fix?

Before you tear into the engine remove the oil pressure sender and install a hand held mechanical gauge and check the pressure. The sending unit coud be bad. As far as the rough running.. when was your last tune up?? The gauge could also drop to zero due to insufficient RPM's because of the rough running. Does it have any knocks when the pressure is at zero??

Oil pressure gauge suddenly reads maximum

Are you referring to the oil pressure gauge on the dash? If so, that is most likely the oil pressure sending unit having gone bad. The sensor runs about $40 - 50 (at least the last time I had to replace one on that engine). They are not terribly difficult to replace and I believe its a three wire sensor located back side of the engine, on the passenger side area. Its in a kind of tight spot and takes a bit to get it completely screwed out, but it can be done.

When they go bad, they typically will cause the gauge on the dash to read maximum oil pressure. You should be okay to run like that until you can get a new sensor as long as it is reading maximum oil pressure on the gauge and not low or no oil pressure on the gauge.
