The issue you have is that the 12v+ feed Times out after 20 mins or so, which will cause all your radio settings to revert to default. No matter which way round you switch the red/yellow on the stereo loom, you'll still have the same issue.
you need to splice the yellow cable to a solid 12v+ with constant power. there Is one in the passenger side footwell area coming in from the engine bay, but you will need to splice into it. The adaptor/interface generates an ignition feed for you (providing you have the correct kit)
There is nothing wrong with splicing into the OEM loom as long as you have a fuse in line of the cable and that it is soldered properly and secure.
I always re-loom using cloth tape.
Or maybe there is a wire missing :? Hence the Steering Controls wouldn't work, and no sounds from when Parking Sensors(PDC) enabled. Is it correct I won't get the chimes for the PDC until a working Patch Lead is installed? He told me the Stalk Controls and PDC are all interlinked

SOURCE: Remove me Steering wheel bmw 1999 e46 3 series

Disconnect negative battery cable. Locate airbag retentions on back of steering wheel. Unbolt or unclip retention devices, and release airbag. Then: Unplug airbag electrical connector. Remove nut or bolt in center of steering wheel with pneumatic impact wrench if necessary . Using appropriate steering wheel removal tool kit, carefully remove steering wheel, paying attention to associated wires, etc. Unplug anything not accompanying wheel, or that is in the way. Pay close attention to any rods, or contact pieces associated with the horn button(s.) Replace these upon reinstall. Reverse order to install including tightening center bolt to 35-55 ft-lbs. If this is your first stg wheel removal, try an old chevy, preferrably someone else's! If inexperienced, don't risk bruising your favorite Bimmer!!! Hope this helps you make your decision. SOURCE: steering wheel controls

In most cases this problem is caused by the rotating ribbon circuit contact under the steering wheel having a broken filament (ribbon type connector), the part is known as a clock spring contact, u will need to properly disarm the airbag and remove the steering wheel to access the part. WARNING: Failure to follow factory Airbag disarming protocol can result in an unexpected Airbag deployment and possible serious personnel injury or death.

Hey Drew..my name is Keith....and it could be any number of things when it comes to the electronics..but there is one item that controls all the power to everything..and thats the ignition switch..and it sounds like you might have a bad contact(s) in the ignition switch...but i would do some troubleshooting..it could a corroded connector somewhere or a faulty ground wire somewhere..so..i hope this has helped and i wish i could pin point your problem..but if you need further assistance..write me back

Testimonial: "Bingo! it took me a while to finally get to working on it, but I took your advice and took the ignition switch out, cleaned it and put it back..Yep!"

SOURCE: 2004 chevy truck radio control on steering wheel

there could be a broken wire in the steering wheel which would mean possibly having to remove the steering wheel but there will be an air bag that could go off which would be dangerous so its best left to the professionals unless you know exactly what you are doing as regards taking off steering wheels.

Radio developed fault. Sudden max audio output which cannot be reduced by volume control.Just before fault, a click was heard in the back of the car.

If you have steering wheel mounted controls then play with the volume switch and see if that drops the volume, if not unplug the steering wheel control harness for the radio an if that makes no difference then the radio is defective.

Installin a panasonic radio mvh p 8200 bt in my 325 ci bmw and i need a schematic diagram for the hook up to allow the steering wheel controls to control the new radio , could you help me

There is no direct wire connection, you are going to need an interface device. I would suggest using an AXXESS AWSC. Here is the link to the instructions for it... here

Pdc fault

When is only one piece of a broken sensor for PDC, so the whole system fails. Where is faulty can be reliably checked diagnosis

I have a little trick! When you provide your PDC up and attach finger to the sensor - must easily pulsing! When if not, that's bad!

Check out and You see.

2002 x5, the reverse sensor

i would check to make sure the connections to #1 in this pic are secure:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=FB33&mospid=47746&btnr=66_0009&hg=66&fg=05

its the active PDC control unit. this is assuming none of the sensors are working when you are in reverse.

by the way, does the front PDC work or is it acting the same way?

Horn not working

sounds like a prob in the connection to your steering wheel. the steering wheel has a special connection that allows all the functions on it to be connected via a rotating connection (did i say connection enough...? lol) i dont know the terminology behind it, but that rotating thing is what lets you turn the wheel. Otherwise, regular connections with simple wires would bunch up everytime you turn the wheel. It sounds like something came loose or just lost connection in there..

sorry so vague. im a novice at this.

happy hunting
