Heater intake drains are worth checking in case there is a build up of leaves and other debris. Sometimes the drains are accessible from the engine compartment though the modern trend is for rainwater to drain from the heater intake through the inner wings. It is usually necessary with most cars to remove the plastic deck at the base of the windscreen to gain access for inspection/cleaning. With some designs the water level doesn't need to rise much before rainwater will pour through the heater.
Is it only when it rains or when you have the ac on? I had one that the ac condensation drip line plugged up and it would soak the front passenger side floor.

be very careful there are plastic clips i belive you must pull them either down or straight out get a putty knife behind there and look with a flashlight,,, also instead of remove the b piller you can buy some 14 Gage solid cooper wire and push it thru the drain to clear the blockage please rate -jeff

I was a manager at a Mitsubishi dealership.
There was a "secret warranty" on certain Galants where the firewall seam would fair and leak water into the interior. Call your local dealer to see if your vin qualifies. The fix is to simply reseal the firewall crimp seam with silicone sealant.
Alternatively, sunroof equipped cars sometimes get the drain channels clogged in time. Make sure to clean drain holes and use forced air if necessary.
Lastly, some cars have heaters with pollen filters. If those filters become clogged, condensation can accumulate and overflow into the interior.

The ramp up mechinism is not closeing the gasket up tight agaisnt the sealing surface so this is a warrenty issue, take it in and have it repaired by the dealer. If you want asstanice to do it yourself please Post here for detailed instructions on doing it yourself. You would do better in a chat because of the problems you may run into that way you work with just one person. Hope this helps.
