2008 hyundai accent gs ive tried to unlock my steering wheel by moing it side to side and turning the key but no luck

have you tried to turn the steering wheel and then turn the key? when the steering wheel is locked it will not let the key turn, try turning the steering wheel to the right and then turning the key. Sometimes when getting out of the car your leg turns the steering wheel and locks it.

With car in park, try to turn the steering wheel back and forth while turning key. This should free up your jam.

Unless the vehicle has just a tremendous amount of sloppiness in the steering wheel or the ignition switch. It may just be in a bind and need a little more pressure than normal to allow you to unlock it. It may even take the help of a friend if it's in a bind or the steering is locked with the wheels turned severely one direction or the other. Have a friend grab the steering wheel and pull it down hard to the left or right while you try to turn the key. I mean a hard steady pull, not a quick ****. If it still doesn't release you most likely have an internal problem with the locking mechanism or the ignition switch itself.

Axle may not be engaged in output splines. Axle should click when spring clip reaches indent. Jack wheel with car in park and see if wheel will turn. If yes, axle is not fully installed. Let me know if you have more questions.

Play around with the steering wheel. Also jiggle the ignition key switch while doing this. It should eventually free up yiour igniton.

If the wheels are cramped to one side or bound up against a curb, pull the steering wheel to take the pressure off them and try the key then. good luck

the door 'lock/unlock' actuator is siezed up (corroded).... replace it (or have it replaced).

To begin, are you parked on a grade or with the front tires against a curb? The steering wheel lock is mechanical; a metal pin or plate engages a notch in the lock plate which is under the steering wheel. If there is rotational force against the lock, such as by a front wheel being "pinched" against something, the force against the lock tang makes it very difficult to retract it by only turning the key(I've seen people break the key off trying to force it to turn). The best, most simple thing you can is to grab the steering wheel and use force to rotate it while trying to turn the key. If this doesn't work or if you don't have the strength, try getting a friend to: #1 block the rear wheels so the car can't roll, and #2 jack the side where the tire is against something up to release the pressure. Then you should be able to turn the key. ps, be sure in the future to avoid having the tire against anything when parking.
