I have a Chevy Malibu 2012, 62000 miles. Problem has happened a few times. I start car and runs like I have bad gas, it will only go 20-25mph even with pedal to the floor. I can stop turn off and it's doing sane thing. Go to Auto and have them get readings since engine light comes on also. Readings say P1516, throttle actuator control module & trottle actuator position performance. Took to a mechanic they changed filter and tuned up, black paid $130. Two weeks later started car, same thing. Then came home, next day start car no engine and it drives fine. One wk later same problem, stop at corner store cone out start car it's fine. I'm disabled female, must travel 90 miles to Dr appts. So called spoke to mechanic says it's probably O2 sensor. Have appt tmrw w mechanic. I don't have monies to go thru trip after trip to try to fix and concerned about being taken advantage of. Any feedback of what would need to be fixed would be greatly appreciated.

The car starts perfect, some days runs a few miles, cuts out,all lights on,turn off restarts perfect, might run a few days or a few miles, then same again.no codes come up or in memory;when i ask for big

Sounds like an electrical issue. Could be a bad relay (fuel pump, ignition, ASD). These can be a bear to diagnose, but the good? news is it will get worse and then be easier to find. If you could hook up a GOOD scan tool and have a helper with you for days at a time (I know, ain't gonna happen) to watch the real time data you might see what it happening when it fails. I have even seen a bad gas cap do this!

What's the sign of a bad cat converter on a 1999

If the cat is clogged, blocking exhaust flow, the car may start normally, and may run fine while the engine is cold. Within a few mins as engine warms it will start to bog down and die when you try to acellerate, even a little. May even die out if you give it gas, while it may idle just fine.
This has been my experice in 2 different cars of different types over the years.

'02' Chevy Malibu loss of power

how it seems that your problem is in the tranmission. has the transmission ever had the fluid changed in it? if not then i would have it checked out and changed. it might even be a bad sensor causing the engine to free spin and not engage the transmission i would defently have the transmission checked out.

2005 Chevy Malibu Maxx - Electrical Problems?

Hello I am not sure if this is the exact fix but I was having the same problem and I took my Malibu in to be checked and it appears to be a problem inside the steering column. When I turn the steering wheel it makes the door locks go crazy!! So although this is not a fix it may be a place to look for a frayed wire or a short in the wires. I am taking my Malibu in on Monday to be checked. Good luck to all having the same problem.

Fuel injection, could be a few things. Bad injectors, I forget the term for it but the unit that tells what injector to spray at the right time, or even regulator.

2003 chervolet malibu - 60,000 miles

This happens on my '99 Malibu, too. No one I've talked to seems to know how to fix it, or they'll insist I take it to a Chevy stealership to get it fixed.
