SOURCE: RACK AND PINON DODGE RAM 1500 2005

if you have a leak from the back of the rack your sector shaft seal is defective. to replace it you need to remove the rack and do it on the bench.remove the locking nut and pull the seal from inside.if you are a rooky replace the rack with a rebuild one. good luck.

SOURCE: Put wrong fluid in power steering of Dodge Ram

They make a machine to do this, but it is too expensive to buy for just one use. The best thing to do it to take off the power steering lines where the connect to the steering rack. Then start the truck and it will pump out the fluid in the reservoir. Feel free to keep adding fresh fluid to it while its running just to ensure all is out. Then, to get the fluid out of the steering box, connect the lines back up, fill the reservoir, and with the vehicle running, crank the steering wheel back and forth from lock to lock. This will take the fluid from the rack and eventually bring it back to the reservoir. You must then again disconnect the lines and flush it out of the reservoir. You may want to repeat this several times, it may take a long time, but will be cheaper than replacing the steering rack, box, pump, and lines. Good luck, and have fun. :-P

Sparks under steering wheel of dodge ram 1500 2003

My blower on my 04 would randomly cut off but if you tilted the steering it would sometimes work again. Pulled the cover off the steering column and found that one off the connections(plug ins) was arking. Squeased connection closed a bit more with a small screw driver and put some electrical dilithium grease in it and haven't had a problem since.

I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 4wd. I need to replace the wheel u-joints. I can get everything off except the hub assembly. I have beat it, pry it, pull it. It will not come off. Does anyone have a remedy? I...

for less than the price of renting a puller, you can buy a repair manual burned to a CD over on eBay.
perhaps that could give you some guidance on removing the hub. or call a service manager at a Dodge dealer and ask him what hardware holds it on. often times there are large bolts coming through the back of the steering knuckle holding it on.

The car is running fine, but the EPS light came on and I could hardly steer it. I have a little over 50,0000 miles on a 2008 elanatra Hyundai?

Hyundai has electric assisted power steering, not hydraulic, and I know the
new Sonata has some steering issues. Better bring it into Hyundai especially
since you're still under warranty. Don't fool with this, since the car is extremely
difficult to steer if you loose the assist.

How do i change the power steering pressure switch on my 04 dodge ram 1500 hemi? I can't find it.

From the Factory Service Manual, you can get one relatively cheap from www.promanuals.net. Here is a link to your 2004 Dodge Ram Service Manual.

The power steering pressure switch is installed in
the power steering high-pressure hose (Fig. 9).

(1) Disconnect electrical connector from power
steering pressure switch.
(2) Place a small container or shop towel beneath
switch to collect any excess fluid.
(3) Remove switch. Use back-up wrench on power
steering line to prevent line bending.
