No. The anti-theft system is inherent with the vehicles wiring. It can be bypassed, but I have no knowledge of how to do it.

If this is anything like my 2006 Malibu you simply put the key in and leave it on the on position. The power in the car will be on and the theft system light will be on or blinking.

Leave the key in for 10 to 15 minutes and the theft system light will be off. You can then start your car.

This is annoying, especially if you are in a hurry, but it works...

I have a 2003 chevy malibu that won;t start. When you turn the key to on the Theft System light comes on steady ( no flashing). I t used o go into this mode periodically where the Theft System light...

I have had the same problem. This has happened to me three times in the past nine months or so. Per the owner's manual, you turn the key to the on position and wait about ten minutes. This resets the system and when the "Theft System" light goes out, it starts right up. I did this each time and it started right up.

My theft system keeps activating and thus disabling the my 2003 Malibu for 10 minutes while I wait to reset. Can this be solved or is there a way to disable the system?

cant be disabled. I would have the dealer or a good repair shop diagnose and recommend repairs. Could be key or the lock cylinder/ sensor problem

Hi I own A 98 Chevy Malibu, my ignition locked n i had to put a new ignition switch in, well now my cars tellin me Something Theft Service. Im wonder what I need to do? Iv unhooked battery for hours ect...

You need to reset the theft system. To do this, try to start it. It should start and die. Then after it dies and the theft light is flashing, leave the key on for 10 minutes. After 10 min, the theft light should go out. After the theft light goes out, turn off the key. Count to 5, then restart it. Then it should work.

Passlock warning light stops car from starting theft sysem

Try unhooking the battery2_bing.gif for about 3-5minutes. I have a 2001 malibu that does the same thing. When you hook up the battery and turn the key forward you should see the gauges return to normal before you try to crank the engine. It may also be the theft system. To reset that you have to turn the key forward for 10 minutes and then shut it off for 10 seconds. Then try again to start the car. It may take up to 3 attempts at this. Which means sitting in the parking lot for over a half hour. Been there done that. GM sucks.
