Clean the throttle /throttle plate, MAF(mass air flow sensor) (if you have one), and the idle air control motor. You can use brake clean and a toothbrush. But not on the MAF sensor. Just spray it with brake clean.
oxygen sensors
map sensor
mass air flow sensor
fuel pressure regulator
idle air control valve
throttle postion sensor
fuel injectors
egr valve
All these sensors send a signal to the ecm to regulate the air/fuel mixture.
Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve OPERATION
The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve controls the engine idle speed and dashpot functions. The valve is located on the side of the throttle body. This valve allows air, determined by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and controlled by a duty cycle signal, to bypass the throttle plate in order to maintain the proper idle speed.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
Disconnect the negative battery cable. To remove the IAC valve, first disconnect the negative battery cable, then the IAC wire harness plug
Next, remove the two IAC valve attaching bolts . . .
. . . and pull the valve from the intake manifold
Disengage the wiring harness connector from the IAC valve.
Remove the two retaining screws, then remove the IAC valve and discard the old gasket.
To install: When installing the valve, always discard the old gasket and install it using a new one
Clean the IAC valve mounting surface on the throttle body of old gasket material.
Using a new gasket, position the IAC valve on the throttle body. Install and tighten the retaining screws to 71-106 inch lbs. (8-12 Nm).
Attach the wiring harness connector to the IAC valve.
HI, This vehicles engine uses a idle air control valve commonly called abbreviatedIAC. If this valve gets carbon build up around it they sometimes fail to close properly. I have also found that customers complaints of high idle tend to be vacuum leaks around the intakes of these engines. I hope this helps.
It's located on the left rear of throttle body assembly. I looks like a small metal cylinder with two bolts and an oval plug with 4 prongs. Yes you can change it yourself. If you can't find it, go to your local auto parts store and have them show you a picture.
