SOURCE: 1995 honda accord speedometer and odometer not working

Sounds like either your speedometer cable, your nylon gear on the side of the tranny where the cable ties in, or the odometer itself is shot. One of those three will set you straight. If you are able, remove the cluster, take the cable off the back, and pull it out of the sheath. You will see if its broken or not from there. If not, slide it back into the sheath, then you have to find out where the sheath meets the tranny, and pull it off of there. Then, you can get someone else to watch the speedo as you turn the cable from the bottom. If it works, great, if not, then its your cluster/odometer/speedo. If it does work, the small gear in the transmission is shot.

2004 Saturn Vue odometer and speedometer occasionally not working

Speedometer
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the vehicle speed based on the information from the body control module (BCM). The engine control module (ECM) calculates the vehicle speed based on the controller area network (CAN) serial data message indicating the wheel reference speed from the electronic brake control module (EBCM). The ECM sends a CAN serial data message to the BCM indicating the vehicle speed. The BCM sends a class 2 message to the IPC indicating the vehicle speed.
The speedometer defaults to 0 km/h (0 mph) when any of the following occur:
• The EBCM detects a malfunction in the vehicle speed sensor circuit.
• The ECM detects a loss of CAN communications with the EBCM.
• The BCM detects a loss of CAN communications with the ECM.
• The IPC detects a loss of class 2 communications with the BCM.

Having the vehicle scanned for codes would probably point you in a correct diagnostic direction .

Speedometer and odometer not working but all others are going how do I fix it home

I don't think it would be a fuse , there isn't a fuse just for the speedometer and the odometer . Fuse's for whole instrument cluster ,other thing's wouldn't work ! VSS- vehicle speed sensor could be bad . How does the vehicle shift . Most vehicle speed sensor's are inputs to the PCM - engine computer . The information is then sent the instrument cluster over a serial data network .

2001 Buick Century Limited speedometer problem, Speedometer not working but odomitor ok. Is there a fuse?

if the odometer is working then the problem is with the speedometer head unit as the odometer gets its information from the same source as the speedometer. you can have the speedometer head checked and fixed if its fixable.

The speedometer and odometer on my 02 kia spectra don't work how can I fix aside from replacing speed cable

This vehicle should not have a speedo cable. It should use a vehicle speed sensor that sends info to the speedometer.odometer. Is the check engine light on? It may have a code stored in the computer for this issue

How do I check the instrument cluster on a 1996 dodge Dakota?

i believe it has a vehicle speed sensor in the rear diff that is probably your problem as the sensor you replaced in the transmission was probably the output shaft speed sensor

Transmission speed sensor

You could have a faulty speedometer/odometer combination meter causing a false Vehicle Speed Sensor error.
My 1998 Sienna had the following symptoms:
- Speedometer and odometer failed intermittently
- The check engine light would come on and I would get a p0500 code in the OBDII.
- The cruise control would stop working at the same time the speedometer failed.
There is a speed sensor in each one of the tires and they feed the speed information to the ABS ECU. From the ABS ECU the speed signal goes to the speedometer/odometer combination meter, and from there it goes to the Engine Control Module and to the Cruise Control ECU. I could see a signal coming into the speedometer/odometer, but no signal going out. Replacing the speedometer/odometer combination meter fixed the problem.

My speedometer isnt working

Make sure all wires to the transmission are connected. From there, change out the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) On the transmission's tailshaft. If it's still not working, you need to open up the dash and make sure it's all well connected.

My speedometer and odometer stopped working

Your speed sensor has failed. The vehicles speedometer is not cable controled, it's controled by a sensor in your transmission. It's a easy fix, but the new sensor is about $80 to $100 depending on where you get it.

Dash cluster

Ok, the issue is your speed sensor. You speedometer and odometer are controlled by a sensor mounted on your transmission. For your vehicle, it's a inexpensive fix; probablly $30.00 or less for the new sensor. Sometimes the old sensor can be a pain to remove, and I've personally had to get creative to get them out. Hopefully yours won't be that bad.

It's held in place by 1 bolt, and has a wire clip attached.

Once you get the old sensor out, make sure you get the new one fully inserted and seated, and that should resolve your issue.

I hope this helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.
