SOURCE: cabin Air Filter

Open the glove box

Remove all of the contents in the glove box

On the right side, dis-engage the rod going to the split plastic pin on the glove box door

Squeeze both other sides of the glove box to defeat the stops that keeps the glove box from falling open

Observe the box in the area vacated by letting the glove box drop down, this is the heater box

Locate a rectangular cover (approx 7 " x 2"), it is located on the face of the box; facing you.

Pull this cover out towards you, the cabin air filter is located in the tray that is connected to this rectangular cover.

This should help you replace it.

SOURCE: Installation of 2004 Toyota Avalon cabin filter

I will be happy to provide you with the instructions.

Open the glove box.

Remove all of the contents.

Observe the right side of the glove box door, you will see a black plastic thing/arm that is connected to a cylindrical device; Remove the arm from the glove box door.

After the arm is disengaged from the glove box door. squeeze the sides of the glove box towards the middle, to defeat the 2 stops that prevent the glove box from falling completely open.

Whilst squeezing the sides of the box inward, lower the glove box door down.

With a flashlight, look into the area behind the glove box. You will see a long rectangular device, this is the door/tray for the cabin air filter. Pull it out, towards you. Once it is out, you will be able to extract the dirty filter, and replace it with a new one.

This entire procedure should take you about 3 minutes. Very easy.

Thanks for choosing FIxYa for assistance. A FIxYa rating (4 blue diamonds) would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

SOURCE: Can't find the ''cabin air filter'' on my 1996 Honda Odyssey

A 1996 Honda Odyssey is not equipped with a cabin air filter. If I was looking for a restriction in the cabin air, the first place I would look is on the inlet side of the A/C condensor. ALL cabin air travels through the A/C condensor ALL of the time. (The heater core only sees air when the temp door is not directing the air around it and always after it has been through the condensor first.) I have seen gunk as hard as concrete clogging the condensor just from layers of dirt that collects on the wet coils then dries.

Testimonial: "Dear dttech, Thanks for the tip on the possible blockage on the inlet side of the AC condensor. Makes alot of sense and I will check there tonight. Is is difficult to access that area and how can I clean it once I get to it. Do I have to completely remove the condensor ? Thanks again for your help."

SOURCE: how to change cabin air filter in toyota avalon

1) Turn off the ignition switch while leaving the wipers in the up position. 2) Open the hood and properly secure it in the open position. 3) Gently pull the rubber cowl seal away from the cowl vent screen. Place your hand underneath the right half of the cowl vent screen and lift straight up, thereby releasing the four spring clips and removing the right half of the screen 4) Remove the water shield. Carefully disengage the two water shield locking tabs and slide the water shield toward the front of the vehicle, lifting the water shield up and away from the vehicle 5) Remove the Passenger Compartment Air Filter, being careful not to allow debris or loose components to fall into the filter housing. Replace the Passenger Compartment Air Filter with a fresh filter and reverse the above procedures to reassemble the vehicle components.
I am not sure what time in the year your 2001 Avalon was built but her is the procedure that I just followed: 1. Open glove box and remove contents 2. Remove the three philips head screws along the top inside frame of the glove box. 3. Remove the hex head bolt in the lower right and Philips screw in the lower left side of the glove box frame. 4. Unlatch the black cover plate from the roof of the glove box. This holds an electrical connection and will need pushed up through the hole when the entire box is removed. 5. Pull on the top left side of the glove box to release the pop tab. Repeat on the right side. 6. Carefully lower the glove box assembly. 7. Disconnect the electrical connection to the trunk disable button 8. The entire glove box can now be removed from the area. The door gear assembly does not come off of the box and is easily damaged if attempted to do so. 9. The Cabin Air Filter assembly has a white cover. Pop the tabs on the right and left side and slide the assembly out. 10. Replace the filter in the assembly. Make sure the airflow indicator points down. 11. Re-Install Air Filter assembly. 12. Re-Install the electrical connections remembering to slide the one through the hole in the top of the glove box. 13. Push glove box assembly on pop tabs. 14. Re-Install screws and bolts. 15. Reconnect the black cover plate to the top of the glove box.

What is the toyota number for the cabin air

The cabin air filter is actually pretty easy to change. Here are the steps:
  1. Set the air conditioning system to Recirculation. The case for the cabin air cannot be removed with the system in the Outside Air mode.
  2. Turn the engine off.
  3. Open the Glove Compartment
  4. unclip the damper rod on the ride side of the glove compartment. To unclip it usually it is just a squeeze tab but sometimes it is a phillips head screwdriver.
  5. The glove compartment now must be squeezed together at the rear to allow the tabs to be released. Just let the glove compartment hang down.
  6. Through the glove compartment opening, locate the filter cover and remove.
  7. Remove dirty filter and replace with the new and reverse steps 1-5 to put it back together.
Shouldnt take to long usually takes me about 5 minutes to change it.

As for the toyota cabin air number im not to sure on that but you can go to any parts store and pick up an aftermarket cabin air which will save you a bit of money, same quality..
