I have a 2005 Nissan xtrail 2.2dci. Does anyone know what fuel pressure I should be getting from the pre supply fuel pump (not the high pressure pump) I know of the suction valve problem these have.

Thanks for all you're input. The problem I have is this vehicle is diesel and it has an external diesel supply pump which has been bypassed I just need to know if anyone knows the pressure that it supplies to the high pressure pump.

When you hook the pressure test guage to shrader valve on fuel rail what it reads is what the pressure is from pump, around 60 p.s.i. all you need to do is hook up the guage and turn on key, you do not have to turn engine over, and if pump is good it will shoot up to 58 or 60 right now.

the fuel pressure if leaking could cause this the regulator is located under the intake plenum but you should smell gas .if you dont then most likely the pump is bad ,the pump will come on for 2 seconds when the key is on then go off it will not stay on with just the key on only when you crank it will it .so have your fuel pressure checked with a gauge.

SOURCE: where is the fuel pump on a nissan xtrail

Inside the gas tank. Most fuel injection systems have the fuel pump in the gas tank. You should not run your car down to empty because you can damage the fuel pump.

I have a nissan xtrail 2006 2.5 litre. it takes 3 primes turning the key and then the car starts.

What you've described is an issue with either the fuel pump, fuel filter, or fuel pressure regulator. Vacuum leaks can be an issue, you should eliminate that possibility by inspecting all of your hoses and connections.

I would change the fuel filter first since it needs to be replaced regularly, that is, if that hasn't been done in quite a while.

Beyond that, if you have high mileage you may want to go ahead and replace the pump before you have to replace it after getting a tow.

For starting issues, clean throttle body and Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) first. If your fuel pump isn't supplying enough pressure, that will cause starting issues. You need to test with a pressure gauge.

2005 frontier sometimes hard to start I have to step on the gas to start it and runs ruff at first. why is it doing this?

Sounds like a fuel problem. Check fuel pressure and that injectors are not clogged. If you have low fuel pressure, suspect fuel pump or filter. If you have high fuel pressure and good injectors, suspect spark or compression problems.

How to change a 2005 nissan sentra fuel pressure regulator

If you want to replace the fuel pump regulator you are better off getting the whole fuel pump module I know its expensive. The problem is you went on line and there is a bunch of chatter about the fuel pump causing delayed starts. They are right. There is a TSB Nissan put out this includes the fuel pump and there is no mention of the regulator that I know of.

How to change fuel pump on 2005 Nissan Altima?

BEFORE YOU TRY TO START YOUR CAR, TURN THE KEY TO THE ON POSITION AND STOP TO HEAR A WHISSING SOUND COMING FROM YOUR FUEL TANK. IF YOU HEAR THAT NOISE, THAT IS YOUR FUEL PUMP ENGAGING AND IT IS WORKING FINE. IF NOT, YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY GET IT CHANGED. ITS A GRUELING PROCESS SO HAVE A MECHANIC DO IT. IF YOUR FUEL PUMP IS WORKING, TRYING CHECKING THE PRESSURE OF YOUR FUEL. YOU MIGHT NEED A NEW FUEL FILTER(IT CAN GET CLOGGED UP) OR YOUR FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR MAY BE MALFUNCTIONING.
