I am looking for the timing marks on a jeep 2.7 5 cylinder diesel engine fitted to jeep grand cherokee 2001 model

but did bingo on Grand (WG) model. I hAVE THE BOOK ON THIS.
Jeep Grand Cherokee (WG) (2001); WG (Europe) model w/ 3.1L Diesel (not in USA 2000) no 3.1 sold or part stores with it.
only outside USA has these parts, CKP sensor

I do have a real shop manual on the WG.

of the 15 engines, i think only one is 5 cylinders. the 3.1L VM

i think only had 4 cyl then but the 2 engines are sisters.
the 4 and 5 cylinder have same setup, long ago. VM. 1998

On V-8 engines, the serial number is stamped on a machined pad on the left front corner of the cylinder block.

On the six cylinder engine, build date information can be found stamped on a machined pad located on the right side of the cylinder block between the No. 2 and 3 cylinders.

The camshaft is situated in the cylinder head( top part of engine) and the crank shaft is located in the cylinder block (the lower part of the engine) to replace either of these components are expensive to replace req the engine to be stripped down

it looks like your hub seals are leaking you will have to strip down and fit new seals

no it wont work.they made too many changes with them about 2 years older and id say yes but no they wont interchange

isusu engine?? have you looked for a 8mm hole in timing gear that corresponds with a hole on plate behind then lock it in with a bolt ,remove bolt after tightening belt .DONT FORGET THIS ???.....if you cant find anything do it with no timing marks easy --- piston no 1 at tdc valves closed spin pump till fuel comes out of no 1 injector feed and lock it all together,indirect diesel is 6/8 ,,,,,direct injection is 12/16,,,,and turbo is 18/22 btdc

Yes this is no prob, best get complete 3.1l jeep to do just finished one and it is perfect.
