Mercedes 2000 s430 rear struts fail body siting on tires how to raise up manual

It is a known issue. Normally no fuse as it is controlled by ECM/BCM. Fixes in the link

Raise vehicle.
Remove tire and wheel assy.
Rmove inner wheelhouse liner ,5 bolts.
Remove the shock-to -knuckle bolt and discard.( Go get a new one). This is the bolt on the bottom of the shock.
Remove upper carrier assembly to body bolts ( top two bolts).
Loosen lower carrier assembly to body bolts until the carrier assembly slides out.
Then, using either a rented spring compressor, or get a pro to remove it for you. If you a rental, please please please look on YouTube to see how to use one properly.
Replace any worn out rubber components, they are sold separately.
Installation is in reverse order.
Torques: Top of shock absorber ,15 foot pounds
Rear carrier bolts, 40 foot pounds.
Bottom shock to knuckle, 110 foot pounds.

Are we talking rear strut assembly with spring there 3 bolts on top in side trunk under carpet befor changing leave tires on unbolt struts raise car up bust lugs lose befor raing car . The reason for tires left on if u unbolt strut and spring decides to pop loose your legs and face are protected tire will save u safty if first

on my 2003 they are in three separate places....two are in engine compartment area...the third is behind a panel or passenger side...next to the glove compartment where the air vent is located (air vent to the door) i suspect the instrument panel fuses are in the engine compartment area....hope that helps

it is the minor service, same as the A-service. change oil check all fluids and tires. change brake fluid if it has been at least 2 years and check brake pads.

It will have to be tested at a dealership. It is most likely the strut assembly, but occasionally the air pumps go bad.

you have to stick the key in the trunk and turn it to the lefy while hittin the unlock button on the key pad 35 times has to be 35 and it will unlock. my battery died and it locked the trunk as u know i coudn't jump it cause the battary is in the trunk haha but yeah 35 times while hitting the key. mercedes wont tell u but my buddy works for inskip and filled me in your o so welcome from one s430 owner to another

Hello, that could be one of several things. It could be a worn out bushing, sway bar link, or your strut assembly itself. With the nose of the car raised off the ground, wiggle the front tires. If there is excessive wobble it is likely to be one of the suspension components.
