Most likely you have a short in one of the bulb connectors or the hot wire from them is pinched on medal somewhere. Or you have water intrusion shorting one out. Inspect the bulbs. Leave both bulbs out. install fuse. Press brake pedal several times and hold. Inspect fuse. if its blown its the pedal switch that's bad or a pinched wire from there. If good put one bulb in. Test again,, then the next bulb. If you see something obvious fix it.

Tail light on my Nissan Maxima 04 is not turning on

Start with the bulb, if not that maybe as simple as a fuse, or a loose wire, as complicated as a PCM out. Hopefully that will start or fix you in your problem

So, my tail light on nissan maxima 2004 were out, the fuse was blown so I replaced it. Tail light work but dashboard lights are out when lights are on, in all positions, switch them off and dashboard lights...

dashboard lights are brighter when lights are off so you can see stuff in the daylight-check and make sure you have the correct bulb and its plugged in correctly-something is confusing the cpu-a blown fuse usually means something is shorted out-check for cut or bare wires around your tailamps-cheers Denny

Taillights go out when dome light is on

I'm not an expert on the electrical part of the 04 maxima. But I noticed on one of the websites I normally visit that it could be a blown bulb on the passenger side vanity mirror. Here's the quote:

2004 Maxima Tail Lights and Parking Lights fuse blows when interior dome light is on Discovered that my tail lights and parking lights fuse (next to the window washer box which took me a couple of hours to find!) would blow everytime I turned interior dome light on. First I thought it was my Ipod and then maybe moisture was getting in through a small crack in the left rear tail light. Sat in my car last night with a box of fuses and did everything one at a time. It was the turning on of my dome light that caused the fuse to blow. It was instant. I have a blown bulb in the passenger side vanity sun-viser flap. I will change that tomorrow and post an update.

He hasn't updated on the results of changing his vanity mirror bulb. I hope this helps...I hate car electrical problems...So hard to diagnose...

2000 Nissan Maxima. Headlights work but tail lights won't come on. How do you fix the wiring of this?I have changed the bulbs and nothing. The brake, reverse, and turn signal lights work, so the bulbs...

tail lights work on a different filament than the rest of the lights you mentioned, it is possible both bulbs are burned out for that filament. if not, check the fuses as the tail light circuit in some cars is on a seperate fuse. the remaining possibility could be bad socket contacts.

2004 maxima tail lights wont come on

I had the same problem with my 04 maxima if you check under the plastic by your windshield wiper fluid you will find another fuse box and there you will find the fuse for the back tail lights
