How to unlock it

Does it work pressing the button on the driver's door armrest? Check the fuse for that window. Also check continuity of the wires or the wires that go from the door to the door frame? Constant open and closing can break wires.

I have a 2005 ES330. Pressing and holding the button also opens my sunroof. It is very useful in the heat of the summer.

It's not the BCM ,more then likely it's that windows switch .

Replace the master switch. Or you could take it apart and sand the contacts for the lock. Many and small pieces.

ON THE DRIVER SIDE BELOW the window is a child safety lock for the other windows unlock it

Inspect or replace the window lock and unlock switch on the drivers door power window switch. There is a lock and unlock switch that will disable the switches to the other power window in the Jimmy. Check to make sure that switch is in the unlock position to have the other power window switch to work.

Sounds like door switch is making the unlock sound, but is not actually activating the door lock. You need to take off the door panel and operate the door lock/unlock switch and watch to see if the lock actually works on the door itself. Now as far as the windows are concerned, I assume when you say windows, you mean all windows, from any window switch. CHECK THE WINDOW FUSE, and tell me all results.

This may be just a case of inadvertently hitting the window lock out n th driver door window switch by mistake. Check that first. Here's some background on window operation

Principles of Operation
The driver power window regulator motor is controlled directly by the master window/door lock/unlock switch (and its integrated "auto down" module). Power is supplied to the power window relay and the master window/door lock/unlock switch, and the passenger power window switch when the SEC/timer module grounds the coil side of the power window relay. The SEC/timer module will ground this relay when the ignition is in the ON position and will remain energized for approximately 15 minutes or until the driver or passenger door is opened.
