2.0l. How can I set timing? 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GL
I need the timing specifications to assist with diagnosis of "run-ability". Spark plugs tips were coated in white; however, the fuel supply was present. Replaced coil pack, found this was not the problem.

Take each plug out of the head. ( 1 AT A TIME ONLY ) and have assistant turn over engine while you look at the plug. No spark = bad module. Or while engine is running plug plug wire from the plug ( 1 at a time ) a good working plug/ module will cause engine to running crappy when wire is removed. If you pull the plug wire on a plug that has a bad module the engine will not change in sound or idle. That's your bad plug/module. That's for engines with module/coil per cylinder. For engine with 1 module for all cylinders use a volt/ohm meter at the module . You will need to know the required ohm/resistance to know if it needs replacement .
hi there did you check your carbs base plate, and did you check your idle jet on your carb ? if that dnt work check your timing an and booster pipe to your break booster let me no if you get it rite ok
Most any model should work. They will supply you with all the wiring points for your paticular car. They come with very detailed instructions, and often a 800 number to call, if you run into problems.
you will need the tool made for pulling the boots off but then all you need is a 3/8 rachet ,about a foot long extension, a universal , then probably 13/16 spark plug socket <could be peanut plug depending on the manifaturer of the plugs> I recomend using bosch or ngk plugs. intake removeal is not needed ....will clear all plugs with intake on but may need to unplug a couple injectors for clearance but don't forget to plug them back in
1.1 mm is the standard gap for a platinum tipped plug. Plugs for this car usually come pre-set but it's always worth checking before installing. Hope this helps.
