SOURCE: timing belt on my 2002 hyundai accent 1.6 liter 4cyl
DID THE BELT BREAK AND THEN IT WAS CHANGED. If so then you may have bent valve. IF NOT then vehicle may be timed wrong. Here is a diagram of your timing marks, http://www.2carpros.com/car_repair_information/tec_info/2002/hyundai/accent/2002_hyundai_accent_timing_belt_diagram_marks.htm contact if you need more help. Thanks for using FIX YA

replace the belt with a new one, when you do the water pump, reset the timing and give it a start,if it works, then you can SMILE,if not, you can use the belt/water pump on the new engine.gotta be the cheapest way forward.......
Sounds like it's either a coil pack or an injector to me, try switching the number four coil pack with any of the other coil packs if the miss follows the coil pack you need to replace that coil pack. if not it's either a fuel injector or a mechanical problem inside the motor, I would rent noid lights from a local auto parts store and look for injector pulse in the cylinder with a misfire, if the noid light is flashing it may be better to leave it to a professional as it is likely internal engine damage. hope that helps. chris
Testimonial: "Thanks Chris, I just took it down to auto zone to see if it was the spark plug wires, the looked fine...... but the guy said it could be internal too. he said it could be the coils...... but I don't know how to change them, i'm not much of a car buff"
