1997 silverado 1500 5.7L. A/C compressor get no

This is just a guess here, but, does it have gas? If there is no gas, the compressor won't start. Also check the connections in the compressor housing, and the switch inside the car, the one that turns it on.

Could be a plugged up evaporator or condensor. Have also had compressors go bad internally and put some of the high side pressure in the low side.

check high pressure with a proper machine and see how many bar you have ,think compressor may be on the way out .

If the low side is high I'm assuming the high side is low to normal. Sounds like a clog in the system. poss filter. get it ckd

The Accumulator only dries the air,if it even works,separates some oil going to evaporator and starts to boil off some gas before the orfice. So basically it never fails,forget that. The orfice won't be real dirty,unless you had a compressor or o-ring failure.
The short cycling is low ref.
The longer cycling is more heat or btu's over the evaporator.
So--Put the gauges on it and look at cycling pressure.
--Electronic Leak Test it
-- If you have to,pull a vacuum and recharge.

I'll bet your compressor clutch end seal leaks as well as a hose or two
It is 13 years old!!

you havent check the pressior of the compressor make sure is full loaded

Blinking or chattering of the compressor clutch usually indicates low "freon" charge.

try cleaning condensor and radiator with pressue washer(be careful no to bend fins)may haft to remove grill if they are dirty will cause ecessive high pressure in system triggering high pressure switch thats why compressor shuts down-if it didnt system would blow line or damage compressor-try that if it works keep clean on regular basis!!!Best of Luck To You!!!!

I had the same problem on my 95. Do you hear it clicking on then off all the time. Well thats what I had. I unpluged the plug at the top of the compressor for about 6 months, got sick of hearing it. I had my system recharged and the problem stoped. I no thats not alot of help, but thats what happend to me. Good luck
