Remove the front seat can give you access to remove the panel. But if it has screws around the outer perimeter, most likely will have to tear it out. Best to find a replacement first. Look at the drivers door, if it has screws, so does the passenger side. There are screws around the arm rest and door handle to remove, then it pops off. Again the seat has to be out of the way.
Lubricate every single part that moves in the top frame all the hinge points, use a light oil like 3 in1. Wipe off the excess do not get it on the interior trim like seats and door panels. Move the top up an down a few times to work the oil in and then try putting it all the way down. Good luck

Make sure all the remotes you want to use are present because they have to be programmed at the same time. - Close the door and insert key #2 into the driver's side lock. Lock the door. -Within 5 seconds of locking the door, press unlock 2 times on the new remote, key #2. -(if this is remote #3, press unlock 3 times. if this is remote #4, press unlock 4 times). -If there's a chirp or beep do not press it again.
