Car key reprogramming for 1994 oldsmobile royale 88. My car will start than it will shut right back off or it will not start all.

Your 1994 used the VATS antitheft system. This key is NOT reprogrammable. You can try to reset the TDM using the ten minute trick, this may work for you. As far as the key goes, you need a new key with a new chip. Remember too that it can also be a part in the ignition that may be failing.

Here is a good link on the security antitheft system.

94 olds 88 want start

yes it can be the security system, find the two all white wires at the bottom of the steering column and cut them and solder the correct ohm resistor in between you will need an ohm meter to measure the resistance of the chip on the ignition key then install that omh resistor to the wires.

Yes, the key, ignition, or Theft Deterrent Module is not funtioning properly. You can start changing these out 1 by 1, or bypass the whole system for about the cost of a new key. This link explains and will help you.
