Remove oil pan and then it is a cinch. but getting the oil pan off with the engine in the car is tricky. remove all the bolts to oil pan and then the bolts to the engine mounts and transmission mount and jack engine up enough to remove oil pan

SOURCE: my 1991 mercury capri is getting fuel and has

1991 Capri (the mazda engine) had a severe design flaw in the crankshaft, allowing the timing gear to wobble out of place, messing up the timing of the engine. A repair to the shaft sometimes works (with jb weld or ?), but new crank may be needed...sorry...blueamber

Location of fuel pump relay

A fuel pump relay will not effect spark, and you can usually listen to the fuel pump to hear it kick in 1 sec before you crank the vehicle over. Are you sure you are not getting spark? How did you test for spark?

Change oil pump

What you really want to do is have a technician remove the oil sending unit and attach a pressure gauge of known reliability. Only then can you know if your pressure is good or bad.

If you have to change an oil pump, you can have problems reaching it. You may be able to find a Video or text online for your exact model. The Capri series covers a lot of Years and the engines may be different and one year may be a front wheel drive while an older one may be rear wheel drive.

One of the biggest problem is having clearance to remove the oil pan. Sometimes in the closest clearances turning the crankshaft can help make room to drop the oil pan.

Front wheel drive units can have a cradle which blocks pan removal. You need to find out the requirements for your exact year.

The pressure test will help diagnose other problems. Bad bearings can leak so much oil that pressure will behave exactly like you describe.

My 1991 mercury capri is over heating and the oil pressure goes from 60 when cold to 30 when warn sometimes even drops lower than that

as long as you oil pressure don't drop below 30 you should be good on an oil pump.. as far as your shifter, the pin or bolt may be getting ready to fall off... don't pull on it anymore until you get it repaired or you may get it stuck in drive and not be able to put it back in park.. that could be tragic.

1991 ford capri softtop overheating, thermostat found fully open when removed after 3km run temp 120 on gauge. no miss during run no water in oil but appear to have a blockage could this be the pump at...

Most likely is a clogged radiator. Next would be the pump fins rusting off, not allowing pumping. Both reasons would be because antifreeze was not run in the engine over the years, and rust could clog the radiator, and water would rust off the pump fins...I'm still betting on the radiator though...good luck...Chris
