Have you had your tires balanced? have you had an alignment? do you have any broken suspension parts front or rear? Is your drive shaft bent? balanced? What makes you think changing differential assemblies will stop the 'shaking'?
the mechanic at the shop said my case differential is bad
the mechanic at the shop said my case differential is bad .I had new tires and driveshaft put end.you can feel it hard when I DR
If the yoke bearings on the differential are ok? you shouldn't be having issues. The differential going bad wouldn't give just a vibration, the entire back end would be hopping like a leprechaun on an electric skillet..... the vehicle would be completely undrivable.
seems like you decided to take your mechanic at his word. Wondering why you posted the question in the first place unless you doubted him to begin with. Good luck with what-ever course of action you choose to pursue.

Yes it could stop it. But a differ that bad has destroyed bearings. Have them show you what's wrong. Remove the cover plate and there would be chunks of metal in it. Not flakes. you can get the whole set up at junk yards for around $300. Case, diff, and axles.

there should be some aluminum lines under the truck on the rear of body, feel these lines with the a/c on, if they are cold then there is something wrong with your rear blen door, blend door is the door controling the cold or hot desire position, sometimes it is controled by vacium and sometimes it is electrical, if lines are cold what most likelly they will be then have the rear belnd door actuator inspect.

i think what you are talking about is the front differential. you will wanna put gear oil in it. the correct weight would be found in your manual.

SOURCE: 99 chevy tahoe, rear driveline clunk upon start
ok, i got the answer and possibly a permenant cure. so i read on many sites that GM has this SPECIAL grease for this clunk, but some people that use it say it dosnt last, so today i tried just putting regular tube grease, it worked for about 10 miles then started to here it come back. i then removed the driveshaft again to see whats up. i looked over the input shaft and saw that it has ware marks in a sliding motion. marks that occastionaly removing it would cause. with further thought i was wondering how could it move that much, where was this travel in the back end? so i came up with this theory, the rear end pivots with the tourqe and pulls the rear back slightly due to the rear shackles of the leaf springs. (four link or trailing arm set-ups dont alow the pull back that leaf springs do), so, im going to try and put a set of tracion bars to see how it changes this action, but i feel the only way to eliminate the clunk/thunk/slight bounce that plagues ALL leaf spring GM trucks/suv's, is to put a four link set-up. will update as i make progress.

check wiring on passengers side near the rear hatch speaker, the rear door speakers are run through them also. i had the same problem and it was a unplugged connector at that location
