Does the ball switch make the actuator engage on 1991 chevy k1500 4x4.

the vacuum switch in case? When you select 4WD, I believe a lever or something pushed the bottom of the switch (ball) and allows vacuum to pass thru for actuation

The air only blows out only on defrost on my 91 chevy truck

air blows out only defrost possible cause could be faulty ac and heater mode switch or broken vacuum line to ac and heater vacuum actuator.you have to remove ac and heater control switch to check it out.

My ford truck is 1991 with two fuel tanks. When I switch to the rear tankthe gas pums into the forward tank and overflows thrugh the gas cap. Is there a check valve that has failed.

Not a check valve. It's the Switch actuator located on the frame rail under the truck. It has two solenoids in it, One of them quit. You can try to clean and inspect the wiring harness first, But most cases it's the actuator

I have a 1991 chevy blazer s10 and the 4x4 isnt working I put a new actuator in it under the batter and its still not working, the transter case seems to be working but the differential isnt locking in for...

It will have 2 actuators one for the transfer case and one for the front differential it might also be the switch on the dash thats what it was on my truck.
