I put the gear in to N and start the car and then when i try to put the gear in to D or R it doesn't work. After trying 5-6 times it works again. Also when i am driving in the road some time the gear automatically shifts into N. What is the problem with my car and what should i do?
I found this on Honest Johns website:
One of the gearsets has slipped slightly down one of the rods. Requires dismantling of the gearbox to fix it, which is expensive, so try to live with it or offload the car.
(Personally, I think offloading a dodgy car is NOT an answer, unless you fess up at the time of sale!)
I would ask the dealer for an estimate, based on the above. Assuming it to be the case!
