When i step on the gas the car vibrates and shakes

When i step on the gas the car vibrates and shakes 2001 Buick century doesn't shake too much in cruise control is this causedbby a bad motor more unt?

Is the engine running smoothly? Does it only vibrate when loaded? If so, then Yes, check the motor mounts. While you or a tech are underneath get your driveline and suspension mounts checked. A bad suspension mount could give the same symptoms. You don't say how many miles but if its anywhere near 100k then mounts are a definite possibility.

Do a test with tranny in drive instead of OD/over-drive, does the problem go away? If so I think it is an OD issue.
Check motor mounts and suspension. In the past, I've seen bad shocks cause a noticeable vibration at a certain speed. Below or above that certain speed, no vibration.

Shaking accelerates

Does it have a vibration when idleing? If it has both, it is most likely the motor mounts. Either way it is a very easy thing to do. Make sure the car is in Park with the e-brake set. Pop the hood and have someone press the accelerator pedal, does the whole engine move (usually in a tilting motion)? If so the motor mounts may be bad.

Have the engine cradle bushings checked by an alignment shop. Sleeves on these have a track record of rusting away on older cars.

Hello there:
I would first have the motor mount bushings checked to see if they are loose or if the mount is cracked or just loose
and you may want to have the engine transmission and the driveline inspected for misaglinment
