How do I change the water pump on a 92 Oldsmobile when the motor mount is in the way blocking access to the water pump?

under the car there's a cross member close to transmission and engine should be two rubber like blocks

Its on the passenger side, lean over fender and look lower bottom of engine. I replaced mine BUT all I really needed was the plastic elbows, dry rotted. $5.00 opps.

Should be inside the timing cover. You remove the timing cover to access the pump parts. Not really a pump assembly like pumps mounted inside oil pans.
I doubt the pump is faulty.
Have you checked the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge ?

Sounds like the radiator is OK...if you cannot see any visible leaks...if you have inspected upper and lower radiator hoses and connections...it could be the water pump...however you should be able to see some antifreeze around the water pump pulley...changing the water pump on your Oldsmobile is not a major job...you do not have to remove any motor mounts to do this...only if your serpentine belt is worn and needs replacement...your Olds will require the removal of the upper motor mount in order to change the serpentine belt...sounds like you are on the right track...:)

if thats got the 3800 or 3100 in it your taking out the wrong bolts!!!!!!!
your trying too remove the whole housing
you dont need too do that !!!
take off the 4- 10 mm bolts on the waterpump pully,then remove the bolts behind it i belive that there are 8 of them that takes the pump from the housing!!

Yes you will have to loosen motor mount and jack motor slightly to change belt.

yes when it leaks there its time for a new pump

jack engine up and remove motor mount and you should be able to replace your water pump
