How do i change da rear other seal on the rearend of a 1985 chevy silverado

Replacing axle seals requires removing the differential cover, removing the spur gear bolt/shaft,removing the C clip, then sliding the axle out.You will have to press the bearing off of the axle to remove the seal, which usually will break the bearing(might as well replace it anyway on an '85).Removing and replacing the bearing should be done with a shop press.

I have a 2003 half a ton chevy silverado that the driver side rear axle is leaking. I need to know how to adjust the shims on the ring in pinion ?

well if the axle is leaking you dont need to adjust the shims, it needs a new seal. pull the brakes off open the rear diff there will be a c lip holding the axle in, remove the c lip pull the axle repalce the seal on the end of the axle tube, put it all back together and you done

Rear end wine - 2000 Chevy K1500. Sounds like the axle bearing but not 100% sure. Never replaced bearings in the rear before - not sure what I might be getting in for.

First check level of oil in rear end housing, if low, pull drums & see if any axle seals are leaking.
If you want info on doing axle bearings, get back to us.
