How do I replace the broken cable on a 99 Caravan right sliding power door?

Cable that opens the power right sliding door is damaged. I removed the cable from the door to work it manually. Van is handicap equipped.

SOURCE: dodge caravan sliding doors

First, keep in mind that as you begin to remove these doors you run the risk of causing serious scratches to the paint and glass, so put some masking tape and/or plastic sheeting around both sides of the door (rear quarter panel and rear glass, front door and front door glass)
I would get a Haynes repair guide since that's what I have to work from and it will tell you step by step with pictures, what to do. It's not hard, but you need to get all of the attach points unhooked to be successful. Suggest you have a helper working with you to keep the door steady.

SOURCE: Power sliding door doesn't work!

Try taking off the door, or spray some wd-40 on the rail. It sounds like its either not getting enough power or its getting caught on something.

2007 Dodge Grand Caravan. What would stop the sliding door from latching?

There could be several reasons why your 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan sliding door is not latching properly. Here are some possible causes:
  1. Obstruction in the Door Track: Check the door track for any debris, dirt, or foreign objects that may be blocking the door from closing fully. Clean the track and remove any obstructions.
  2. Broken or Misaligned Door Hinges: If the door hinges are damaged or misaligned, the door may not close properly. Inspect the hinges for any signs of damage or wear and replace them if necessary.
  3. Damaged Latch or Actuator: The latch or actuator that holds the door in place may be damaged or malfunctioning, preventing the door from closing properly. Inspect the latch and actuator for any signs of damage and replace them if necessary.
  4. Dead Battery: If the battery in your Dodge Grand Caravan is weak or dead, the electronic functions of the sliding door may not work properly. Check the battery and replace it if necessary.
  5. Faulty Door Control Module: The sliding door may be controlled by a door control module, which may be faulty or damaged. Have the control module tested and replaced if necessary.
In any case, it's recommended that you take your vehicle to a certified mechanic or dealership to diagnose and fix the issue, especially if you are unable to get the door closed manually.

The sliding door on my dodge caravan will open but don't close

The door is controlled with a wiring cable that lies in a channel in the floor below the door. The repetitive coiling and uncoiling (flexing) has evidently broken one of the wires in the bundle. The cable needs to be replaced

2002 honda odyssey power sliding door roller replacement. Is this a hard job to do?

Not very difficult if like my '99. Be sure to purchase the correct hinge for "power" door. Here are the steps:
  • Remove rear tail light (2 screws and pull from socket)
  • Remove two screws from rear of hinge cover panel
  • Remove bolt from front of hinge cover panel
  • Open door around one foot and rest the back end on something about the same height
  • Remove the three bolts from the hinge connecting it to the door
  • Loosen slack on cable by unbolting pulley under inside rear panel (tire tool storage on driver side)
  • Slide broken hinge out back of rail
  • Replace new hinge and put all back together
I don't know if there is a simpler way to loosen the slack on the cable, but this is how I did mine.
Hope this helps.

Cable on power sliding door broken...will not operate with power...expensive fix?

We'll
speaking from one that has change SEVERAL of these. If you havent done it
before its a pain in the ****. I have done so many that I can do them in about
30 minutes. You can do it with or without the door on the vehicle.
Personally I do them with the door off. You can't fix the cable if its broke.
The cable has to slide down 2 sets of sliders and in and out of the motor
theres no tolerance for a splice anywheres. I had no idea those motor assy were
that expensive.

The way this is changed is
you remove the door. (disconnect negative on battery, or turn power slide door
button to off) Remove the panel, drop the glass down about a 1/3 the way, pull
the 2 rubber grommets off from inside the mod. Remove 2 10 mm bolts, remove the
back sash on the door and the inside rear window rail, pull the inside rubber
window run slightly out. Slide the old glass out, drop the mod down, remove the
cable assy bolts (4 10mm bolts) , unplug the wiring harness, remove the 2 10mm
bolts atop the rear slide roller, theres also one 10mm inside the door at the
very top near the rear slider. Remove that bolt too, its grey and about 1
1/4" long. You also have the remove the rear latch lock, 3 T30 torks
bolts. Unsnap the cable from the 2 retaining clips and slide the power door
assembly out the bottom of the door. Reverse assembly for the new one. Id
imagine they are charging you about $300-400 labor. Id do it for $100

lol No idea where to get a new one
reasonably tho. Its sad cause I see 1000's of them daily. Ask me how I know
this? I work in offline repair at Toyota Motor
manufacturing Indiana.

Good luck Rob

I agree,
if you don't know what your doing with the new motor your going to shell it out
quicker then you put it on. This is where the dealer comes in handy. I've
replaced a few and from I've seen they usually run around $1100-1200 without
labor

04 toyota sienna xle driver side sliding door not opening

You need a motor assembly for the power door. It comes with the gears and cables all as one assembly. It requires taking apart the sliding door from the inside. Removing the door panel, door glass, window regulator and motor assembly to gain access to the unit. This is not a job for a novice, and can be a costly repair. Check around for the best price from a place that has experience in Toyota sliding doors.
You cannot just replace a broken cable.
