first you have to run the fault codes to find which sensor turned on the limp home mode so that you do not waste money chasing maybe's
engine lights do not only refere to the engine but to the transmission as well so unless you run the codes it may well be in the transmission
Hi, Toyota have recalled its 2001-2003 Rav4s I own 2 of them and my 2002 had the same problem until I call Toyota National customer service and confirmed that my VIN# fail in the recalled vehicle. the main problem is ECM and replaced by local Toyota dealer free of charge. You need to act now by next year this warranty will end since your vehicle will turn 10 years. The other thing is it got to be under 150,000 miles on it. Call the Toyota National customer service right away.
Hello smeet3992: The transmission uses 5w-30 for tempretures up to 95 degreese in tempreture. Uses 15w-40 for all tempretures greater then 50 degreese. If you are in an area that has extreme fluctuation in tempretures I would use the 15w-4o engine oil. I also senrt a picture of where to check the oil at. Make sure you pull the right plug. The reverse idler pin has the same size bolt head.
