Had the same issue. I replaced one of the fuses in the little case on top of the engine. Check the fuse diagram in the manual, locate the one for a/c. The fuses are color coded by amps, just buy the right color and push into place. (I did this after verifying my coolant levels were normal)

What fuse controls the radio and ac/heating in a 2002 Beetle?

A/C is protected by fuse on battery fuse block under black cover on top of battery.

These 30amp GREEN fuses burn out the holder. Check for burn and melting . Jumper Battery RED to individual small RED wires with another '' in line fuse '' of 30 Amp...obtainable from most car parts stores.

Radio has fuse in rear.

2002 vw beetle ac prob. was cooling one minute then i turned ac off for about 5min. when turned back on ac was blowing hot air.

Too much pressure build-up when you turn it off, the compressor will not function.
You may have "air bubbles" in the system.
Have refrigerant checked (for free) at most auto stores (call ahead).

Hope this helps!

My daughter is buying a 1999 VW Beetle and the AC is not working, the driver side window will not go down and the buttons that opens the trunk and fuel door will not work. Will these be really expensive to...

I have a friend with a 1999 Beetle. The Window was a pain, ended up taking it a shop. 285 at $90 per hour labor, saved an hour because I had taken apart the door.

AC not working at all? Likley the AC Controller (475) or the blower motor regulator (225).

Wiring is also bad in the one your looking at likely. And wiring jobs are a pain.

It will need a new timing belt at 90K for 600-800. DIY will run you 200.

I am fairly competent with car repair and can usually fix most things myself, but I trust others with wiring issues and computer issues.

Skip that car.

Extended warranty

I believe this wold be a good investment, if you had a trans go out it would cost $3000 AC compressor $1000, transfer case, $1500+ and so on. say this from 30 years of automotive repair cost experience, also u will get a free rental car on most repairs.

Windows on 2002 beetle

That is a recall issue. VW should fix it for free.
