First of all you need to access the Engine Control Module (ECM) using suitable diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car, in order to pull out all DTC's memored. DTC = Diagnostic Trouble Code. Then you will bu full informed about the root cause of the problem, and you will be able to repair & replace bad pieces and reset the ECM. Then the EPC (Electronic Pedal Control) yellow light will turn OFF.

Volkswagen 2004 Volkswagen passat 1.8 epc esp motor oil pressure

Try pouring a 8oz bottle of regular alcohol into the gas tank, into about a 1/4 tank of fuel and take out on the high way and open it up ( floor the gas pedal and open up the pistons and let the alcohol clean the heads and this probably will solve your problem!

I have a Passat 1.8T, any time the EPC light comes up the car will stop moving but still runing until i off the engine and re-start, but at time it will not start after a while then it can start again....

Multiple faults can cause this.

With this being an ongoing problem you need a shop to scan the systems.

EPC is the Electronic Power Control....or throttle pedal and throttle body.
When fault detected engine will only idle.

Dirty throttle body is often cause of no power or gear engagement with EPC lamp illuminated.

Epc light is ON vw passat 2000

Needs to be put on a scan tool, It sounds like a vaccum leak giving an eronic reading on the mass air flow sensor or a problem with your valve body to the transmission, may need cleaning or replaced..

My 2000 vw passat starts but keeps stalling

If it back fired it is possible the timing jump a tooth. If so, you'll have to have the timing sprockets placed back into the proper spots. Have your mechanic do this if it's needed. But in any case have the timing check first.
