The load leveler sensor operates the compressor. It most likely is malfunctioning. It is located on the rear drivers side lower control arm.

SOURCE: need fuse box diagram 2002 gmc envoy

If I remember correctly if you look at the back side of the fuse cover, it should tell you what the fuses are. Also in the owners manual in the index, under fuses, it should give you a diagram of the fuse location for the acc. outlets. Good luck. The fuse should be a 20 or 25A fuse.

SOURCE: Removing rear air suspension on GMC Envoy

Just behind right rear tire up in the wheel well. Air inlet is inside right rear quarter near the accessory inflator. Compressor runs 3 lines one for the accessory inflator and one for each air bag.
THere are also 2 sensors, one on each trailing arm that senses load and then raises and lowers accordingly.

Relay in fuse box under hood on driver side wheel well labeled HDM, #46 on 2004 Envoy XUV. Swap with relay #45 labeled "Fan" to test. That was my problem.

Good Luck,

2003 GMC Envoy air ride suspension won't work

The compressor is 600 bucks. If you can hear it running, then one or more plastic air lines going up to each shock is cracked . The level sensor may not be turning the compressor on. If you have experienced high water or a lot of snow and salt the system needs to be looked at to see what failed.

Compressor runs but does nnot put enough air out to raise vehicleHow to change compressor on air ride suspension on 2002 GMC Envoy

The compressor is in front of the muffler under the car. The parts cost 600+ for the compressor alone. Getting at it is another thing. You have to raise the car pretty high to get to the mounting bolts.

Is there a way to fix the air compresssor in a 2002 envoy

They sell compressor repair kits (not sure on price), but the replacement compressor run around $500. You more than likely have a leak, which caused the compressor to go out in the first place. Compressor is easy to change

I have a 02 envoy which the rear keeps deflating. When I turn it on the compressor kicks on and airs it up, but sometimes while driving it will start to lower and the compressor doesn't turn on. If i...

There must be a leak. That is obvious. And when the air gets low, the truck is supposed to fill it back up no matter if you are driving or parked. There must be something that reads the pressure in the system or how high the back end is. Some sort of switch must tell it when its full or high enough. That switch may be broken and not reading the low side of the pressure. I have a lincoln towncar, it was one of the first cars with air ride. Ive since had them replaced with normal springs. Rides just as good and only cost me 170. No worries from here on out. If you end up having a hefty bill to fix that air ride, maybe think about eliminating the problem with springs.

Don't think you can, even if you were to put air from and outside compressor there is no way to keep it from leaking back out. If the compressor is bad, you really have no option but to replace it.

I have a 2003 envoy where the rear end is riding realy low any ideas

I had the same problem with my '02 Envoy 4x4; had the soap test done and there were no leaks; also had the air compressor motor checked and mechanics said it was fine. The rear air bags were worn and cracked so I had them replaced. It lifted and rode at the correct ride height for a few weeks.
After having the rear air bags replaced I noticed that it was starting to not lift as before. Had another diagnostic check; the air compressor was not forcing air through the system in order to lift the vehicle. The air compressor motor was replaced. Compressor comes on and shuts off now.
Vehicle is at the normal ride height now.
Rear air bags and air compressor motor were dealership parts; unable to find after market; not recommended to replace with used parts.
I had the dealership to run the diagnostics and had another mechanic to replace the parts. Total repair for bags, motor + labor = $1500

The rear of my GMC Envoy sits very low and the ride is very bumpy

If you have air shocks, they could be leaking. Check that air compressor is being activated. You can test the power to the pump if needed with a voltmeter.

Many people do switch to traditional shocks which seem to last longer and are much less of a hastle.

You can go to autozone.com and register for free online repair manual if you wish to change the shocks yourself.
