Your original keys had a computer chip in them that is programed to your car's computer and you will have to have a dealership reprogram your new keys to match your car's computer. or if you still have the original ignition lock you can reinstall it and contact your local dealership and give them your car's Vin# which is located on title or vehicle registration. And most dealerships can make you a new ignition key. Then your car should sta

SOURCE: 2003 Hyundai Sonata Door Lock Problem

I had this problem. Through some research and asking some service personnel I found out it is a fairly easy fix. You will need to buy a new relay switch for the door locks. The dealer will/should know what you need. They are located (two of them, buy two and replace both) on the back side of the fuse box. It is not that easy to get back there. I had to lay on my back with my head up under the instrument panel. They are visible and can be removed if you take some time and be careful. Once I knew what I was looking at, it was easy to replace and the remote works like a charm. You can go to an auto supply, like Autozone, and they should have a schematic to show you where these relays are.

SOURCE: The key wont turn in the ignition of my hyundai

hi from uk please try this ? with key removed try gently turning steerwheel to the right if you feel a slight spring in steering ? hold on the spring and insert key it should work and release lockand turn ign on ? if steering is springing on left ? try as above the same method not unusual for steer lock to prevent turning key as the steering even in straight position ? the necessity to gently release load on lock is req'd to allow key to turn/unlock the steering lock from the steering column practice doing the above each time you fit key to unlock steering and tuning ign on to start hope this helps

SOURCE: 2005 hyundai sonata--car locks itself with keys in

I own a 2005 Hyundai Sonata as well and this has happened to me. All the doors automatically lock as I pull on the door handle to get back in the car. This happened twice in the winter of 2007-2008, then it didn't happen again until this past December 2009 and now today in January 2010.

I wonder if it has something to do with cold temperatures? Or maybe that's when I'm more likely to leave my keys in the ignition with the car running!

But it is a big pain, one time my two year old was in the car and the fire department had to come pry a door open! I started carrying the box with the unlock button in my coat but even this would not unlock the doors this morning. Only the spare key will do.

I am taking my car into the dealer to take a look. And I'm going to write a complaint to Hyundai. This is unacceptable.

Use the ignition key to unlock the Sonata doors, then open the door and enter the driver's seat. Put the key into the ignition and turn the ignition cylinder clockwise as far as it will go before cranking the Sonata engine. Leave the key here for 30 seconds to deactivate the system.

How to Program Keyless Entry Remotes in a Hyundai Sonata By Christian Killian, eHow Contributor
20Found This Helpful The keyless entry system in your Hyundai Sonata is part of the factory alarm system. If you have to replace a lost or damaged remote, reprogramming will be necessary. The remote is important because not only does it lock and unlock the doors, it also arms and disarms that factory alarm when you open or close your car doors. New remotes are available from any Hyundai dealer. While they will program it for you, you can do it yourself and save a programming fee.

Step 1: Locate the fuse panel under the dash on the driver's side of the car. Just below it is the control module for the factory alarm system. Open the cover on the alarm system control module and locate the memory switch inside.
(Kleophaus Livingston/Demand Media) Step 2: Verify that the switch is in the "Off" position; if it is not, switch it to the "Off" position. This is important for the system to understand what you want it to do when you move to the programming mode.

Step 3: Insert the key into the ignition of your Sonata and turn the key to the "On" position. Wait for 60 seconds, then move the memory switch inside the control module to "Set."
(Kleophaus Livingston/Demand Media) Step 4: Depress and hold the "Lock" button on your remote for one full minute. This allows the remote and the control module to communicate and sync. Release the "Lock" button and turn the memory switch in the control module back to the "Off" position.

I only know 2 different ways and Im not even going to say it will work on a Hyundai it does work on chevys, dodges, and some fords. What you do is manually lock all your doors and then take the key and unlock the passenger door get in the car and reach acrossed and unlock the drivers door manually, then but the key in ignition and start it. If that dont work then disconnect the + battery cable from battery for 10 minutes. Thats how ive allways done it let me no if it works please. Good luck, Kyle

2006 hyundai sonata died, we replaced the battery then the alternator and we still can't get it started. I isn't even making a sound as we turn the key

Does it have anti-'theft?. If so, try this. with the key in hand close the doors. Put the key in door lock cylinder. Then lock the car. wait a few seconds (10-15) then unlock the car. Open door and try to start vehicle. You may have to do it 2-3 times. Lock-unlock sequence.
