It's not that bad at all. After you remove the three bolts for the power steering pump and the two bolts for the drive belt tensioner it is sitting right in front of you.

SOURCE: Replace timing belt on Volvo S60

There is no room for error...... Zero clearance. If off one tooth it can and will bend valves. if you are one that just feels the need to get alittle dirty or just can't pay for the service, then get out your Haynes out and turn to .....Tune up, and look at replacing timming belt. Get a cam gear tool that locks them into place so as that they will not move when u have them lined up. make sure they are lined up with marks as said in book. then make sure crank as well as all marks are lined up acordingly. make sure belt marks are lined up with everything. i would reccomend using a volvo belt though cause it will have all the marks on it.However other company's make good quality belts also at a fraction of the price. So it is really up to you.
Good thing when doing timming belt is to also change out your timming belt tensioner. YES do this it will save you a engine in the long run. it is a moving part that will go bad, it will freeze up and snap timming belt. rip out teeth in thebelt and bend valves. So as a gen rule...When you change timming belt, Change belt tensioner at same time since you cant just change tensioner without changing or getting timming belt off. Remember to use your HAYNES. It is your friend and will save you money in the long run. Good luck... Hope this helps you.

SOURCE: Volvo S60 Hesitation

Had a similar problem recently where I would press the accelerator almost to the floor before I got a response and when I ran the A/C it was worse. Also my car kept stalling out when at idle. Volvo dealerships are extremely expensive. I took mine to a Bosch service center (more of a mom & pop shop) and the price was more reasonable. The drivability (sp?) problem was the rear oxygen sensor for me. I also had a fuel pressure sensor and MAP (labeled as pressure sensor from Volvo) sensor replaced. The parts are expensive, but it fixed my issue. There is a front and rear oxygen sensor so it could be either. The parts are $219 each. The fuel pressure and MAP sensor are cheaper, but only by about $40. They are not hard to replace though. Once I had the rear oxygen sensor replaced the car was back to normal. I have a 2003 S60 with 97K miles.

SOURCE: Volvo S60 sensor ?

Sounds like an oxygen sensor (there are two). I had a recent problem where I had a rough idle and my S60 continued to stall out. Turned out to be the rear oxygen sensor. After replacement, car idles nicely and car drives normally.

I have a 2002 Volvo s60. My ac compressor pulley wont turn. Am I able to bypass the ac compressor with the serpentine belt?

no
disconnect the power wire to the ac compressor clutch
that will isolate the compressor if it has seized bit still allow the pulley to turn
if it will still not turn , have the pulley removed and a new bearing fitted

My ac unit mak7ng noise if it freezes up can I by pass it with a smaller belt 2002 volvo s60

It is best not to. You would have to build an Idler pulley to replace the AC Unit and your Climate Control wouldn't work properly.

I need a diagram for a serpentine belt on a volvo 2004 s60 please

you should have a diagram of how your belt goes under your hood, or on the engine near where the belt goes.

Air compreser froze

yes remove the wire plug off the front of the compressor near where the belt goes.If it is stuck take a pry bar and un stick it,do not put the wire back on.The clutch is maganetized and the bearings are froze up.Usually this will work. If not You will have to either get one from the junk yard and put it on.Or fix your car the right way.

BELT DIGRAM FOR THE S60 2005

In a clickwise explanation.

Start with the Power Steering pump, down over the AC compressor, up under and over the pulley above that, down to the Crank pulley, and under the tensioner.

I'll try to add a photo later.
