2002 trailblazer ext stalled and the shut down, low oil pressure came up on the dash and not it won't start

It could be the oil filter (or drain plug) wasn't tight or properly installed and allowed oil to leak out until you lost pressure. It could also be a new problem that is unrelated to the oil change. Have you checked your oil level?

Oil level is at full and I cleaned the throttle body out and still won't start

Check for spark at any of the sparkplug wires and let me know if you have spark.

I got it to finally start but when I turned on the heat or a/c it wanted to die, so I turned them off..when I press the gas pedal I barley goes over the 1 on the rpm gauge

When they changed my oil I just noticed they put a new drain plug in and it's got new oil around it and nowhere else...could this be the low oil pressure from it being a different one? Should I try and tighten it

How low was the oil when you checked it.

  • Justin

    Full

OK then.If you check your fuel pressure and its within the specs then i would think there is a sensor at fault and this motor is famous for the cam sensor going bad.The only way to know for sure you will need a lab scope.

  • Justin
    Justin Mar 27, 2014

Would the cam sensor cause it to not start

  • Justin
    Justin Mar 27, 2014

Just did a code scan and it came up with p1516 and p1220

  • Ricky Peters
    Ricky Peters Mar 27, 2014

These codes you gave me they have to do with the throttle body only.So i would check all wire connectors on the throttle body for a good connection plus check all the ground wires underhood then try to clean it.If none of this helps you may need to reflash your computer. There are several service bullitens on this problem

  • Ricky Peters
    Ricky Peters Mar 27, 2014

P.S. Some of the wire pigtails are known to have been broken inside the pigtail itself.

  • Justin
    Justin Mar 27, 2014

Can you replace the pigtails and make it work again or do I need to buy a new throttle body?

  • Ricky Peters
    Ricky Peters Mar 27, 2014

I would replace the pigtails first because they don't cost that much. You can get them from www.rockauto.com or other places online and maybe at you local autoparts store also make sure to take any grounds loose on or around the throttlebody and sand them then if the problem still exists then you might have to replace the throttlebody.

  • Ricky Peters
    Ricky Peters Mar 27, 2014

P.S. I also would try to clean the throttlebody as good as i possibly could

  • Justin
    Justin Mar 29, 2014

It has a new battery as well, and when they put it in the throttle body was dirty so could it be set to that of a dirty throttle body? Now it being clean I got it to start but won't go ove 1500 rpms and now won't start again..if the alternator is bad could this be the cause of it?

I would check the fuel pressure and if its not within the specs then replace the fuel filter and fuel pump..

SOURCE: lost oil pressure

Highly unlikely that you need a pump, but it is possible that the pick-up tube that extends down into the oil pan, from the pump, has become loose or broken and dropped off it's mount and into the oil pan. It is also possible that the screen on the pick-up tube has become covered in sludge build-up and is no longer allowing oil into the pump. The next course of action would be to remove the oil pan and have a look at the condition of the oil pump pick-up tube and go from there

SOURCE: Runs Ok...engine warmed up...come to red light or

Sounds to me like the Throttle Position Sensor. Thats usually what makes the throttle "rev" But that is not going to make the oil pressure drop. Pull the codes from your car and look them up online. sometimes there is an extra fuse u can add to your panel and turn the key on and it will flash your codes via the check engine light. i.e. if the light flashes 2 times then small pause then 1 time and long pause that is code 21. if there isnt a extra fuse you can usually jump it with a paperclip and pull the codes. not really sure how to do that with yours. but im positive Google knows ;)

We have a 2002 Trailblazer and today the check gage light come on and it read to turn engine off. When we were moving it was fine ,but when we stopped at a red light or in traffic it read the same thing....

I can't speak for the engine light issue, but look into stepper motors for your gauges for the oil pressure issue. I just purchased a used '04 Trailblazer EXT and the tachometer stopped working 1 week after driving it off the lot. I did some looking and apparently the Delphi motors that GM used do not hold up. Low oil pressure, engine is stalling

Hi!
Some cars are made that way when the oil pressure is low the car stalls to prevent damage to the engine, So you need to check the oil level ,If its good then check the pressure because it might be a bad oil pump. Good luck

Why is showing low oil pressure and stop engine on dash board i have low oil pressure and it reads stop engine

Check your oil. If it is low, top it off and see if the light goes out. If your oil is full, have your oil pressure checked.

2005 ext trailblazer has a problem with the oil pressure gauge. the check presure light on the dash comes on that the pressure goes back to normal. get a ticking noise from engine when this happens?

Don't mess with a potential low oil pressure. Tow it, don't drive, to someone who can check out the oil system and make sure it's working right before you run the engine. If you run it even long enough to drive it to the service shop and it does have a problem, you can wreck the engine bearings. It may be nothing, but it's not worth the risk.

In my 02' Trailblazer oil pressure gauge goes below 0

I have this same problem with my 2002 trailblazer; however, I goofed up and had a mechanic look at it, since I was perplexed as to what was going on with it. He told me the oil pump needed replacing and it ended up costing me around a $950. Needless to say, it still happens. A grand down the drain - it wasn't the oil pump. The oil level is always good. This generally occurs when I've run the vehicle for a while and then come to a stop. It occurs quite often during the spring/summer and doesn't happen all that much during colder months.

MY 2002 RAINIER DOES THE SAME THING I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY. I NEED TO CLEAN IT OR REPLACE IT. I HAVE THE 4.2 AND YOU CAN GET ONE FOR $200 PLUS SHIPPING. THE THROTTLE BODY STARVES THE CAR FOR AIR CAUSING THE IDLE, AND SHUT DOWN PROBLEMS. I AM GOING TO TRY IT THIS WEEKEND.
