I have a 5L-E toyota hilux that runs fine at idle yhen when you rev it to about 2000 rpm it starts to blow alot of white smoke. I have cut injectors out while the smoke is blowing with no noticable change. I have run it from a clean fuel container no change. Air filter has been changed and filters all has made no differance. Oh and the engine check light comes on but goes off as soon as you stop reving it. Any ideas? It has 200k on it.

You are burning oil, causing the blue smoke. It is mainly cause by worn piston rings. Also will coat your spark plugs with oily residue. Try an oil additive such as "stop smoke" or another such brand to reduce burning your oil and it may recondition your seal sand stop it all together.

SOURCE: engine stalls, check engine light, not fuel filter.

the white smoke as it stalls could be steam in the exhaust. This is caused by coolant leaking into cylinders from a leaking head gasket. You should check cylinder compression next with a compression tester.

get someone to rev the car and see if the exhaust note sounds muffled!!! i.e blocked or bent if it sounds normal chech fuel pressure and more importantly fuel flow the guy with air flow meter was proberbly right

these engines are pron to injector failure !!! white smoke means dumping fuel ! black smoke means lack of air ! blue means burning oil! its not an easy task! by all means not cheap! ull need 7 injectors and one #8 injector call a ford dealer to see the price ! but i would also call an international aka navistar dealer! there sometimes cheaper
