I need to replace the drivers side transaxle in my 1994 Caravan

I need to replace the drivers side transaxle in my 1994 Dodge Caravan. According to the Haynes Manual it states I have to take off the speedometer linkage and loosen up the bellhousing bolts. I have never had to do this with other vehicles so it scares me to think that changing this half axle would be so different than the other ones I've done.

1993 Ford Probe Does a bad automatic transmission cause a transaxle problem or vice versa?

Your transaxle is the transmission. Just a different term for it in a front wheel drive.

How do i change the drivers side transaxle in a 1994 dodge carava

To change the CV axle, you have to remove the lower ball joint, remove the axle nut, remove from hub, (you can pull the strut out far enough to do this), and the axle will pull out. Install in reverse order. Sounds like you were trying to remove the transmission.
