SOURCE: How do I replace the starter on a 2000 Dodge Intrepid?
Before changing a starter, you need to do some testing. First, check that your battery is holding 12v or better. Next, check that there is 12v at the main connection on the starter. Then chjeck that with the key turned to "start" there is 12v at the small terminal on the starter. If not, check the relay that operates the starter.(it may be bad). If readings are good, and block ground and positive cable is connected and clean, replace starter.
To remove starter, disconnect positive cable from battery, unbolt starter, remove harness. Sometimes removal involves twisting unit and manuvering around stuff that's in the way. If you find that does not work, then remove whatever is keeping it from coming out. Yes: it comes out from underneath. (unless you see an obvious clear path to remove from above there is no set rule, just do what's easier) Replacement is the opposite of removal...no tricks. If your radio has an anti theft code, know it before you start or after you are finished it won't work. You will loose settings though.
good luck

Did you try to replace the starter cable? is the Truck turning over or just clicking.? If it's turning over and not starting. Best guess would be one of two things. Knock sensors Located under intake manifold. they get wet and deteriorate or the fuel pump. I've replaced all three on mine. 233k still running strong...
SOURCE: 02 yukon denali security light stays on will not
Several GM products, including the Chevrolet Impala and Malibu, the Oldsmobile Alero, the Pontiac Grand Prix, and Saturn Ion, have issues with the Security light coming on. This is many times an indication of a failing Body Control Module (BCM). Initially, the Security light will come on then go off, progressing to a constant on light, before the car will refuse to start. Other symptoms may include erratic action of electronics, a clicking sound coming from the glove box, and the air conditioning failing to blow cold air. I recommend a shop that specializes in the electronic systems of vehicles to diagnosis and make the necessary repairs. They should keep the car until they replicate the symptoms described. A new BCM from GM should cost about $230; plan on another $200 for them to diagnose the problem, replace the unit, and program the new unit. The dealers quote between $700 and $1,100 for the same repair. My experience and the experiences I have read on the internet, indicate the new BCM should last only about a year.
