Sounds like a bad tank or line... Does it leak when the car is not running? If it only leaks when you running you have a bad line. If you leak all of the time then the tank needs replaced.
Testimonial: "Nick, thank you so very much for your help!!:) You were certainly right about having a bad line! A squirrel had built a nest on top of my gas tank, & while building the nest, it chewed through my gas lines!:( I now need a new fuel pump, lines, etc!! What a mess, huh? I am so grateful for your help & for this site! I really know nothing about cars, so for someone like me, this is a wonderful place to be able to visit!! Please take great care!!:)"
SOURCE: Opening the gas pump door (Saab 9000- 1996)
is there a rip cord in the trunk usually has a little handle on it for this exact purpose. may be hidden
SOURCE: fuel tank smell inside car
i think they didnt want to do it all dealerships have the right stuff to fix it.try someone else.
Not familiar with Saab at all, but on every other car made, if you smell coolant inside the car and a fog covers the windows, the heater core needs to be replaced. Depending on the design of the heater box that contains your blower motor and heater core, leaking coolant may be destroying your blower motor, and causing the noises and metal smell.
