SOURCE: Fuel Filter for a 2005 Subaru Outback

In 2005 Subaru moved the fuel filters to the fuel tank for both 4-cyl and 6-cyl cars. What is confusing is the statement in the owner's manual about replacement intervals; the statement actually only applies to 4-cyl cars. Even though the filter is mounted in the tank, this is still a replaceable element on 4-cyl, but not on 6-cyl. The 6-cyl filter element is part of the entire fuel pump assembly (a $300 assembly) and is not sold separately. Therefore the 6-cyl filter is intended to be a "lifetime" part, which really means it gets replaced when the fuel pump fails and the entire pump assembly is replaced.

Testimonial: "Excellent and timely advice. He cleared up a confusing question I had and got conflicting information from the vehicle owner's manual."

2006 Subaru Outback horn will not blow in center position but will blow if wheel is rotated to either side approx. 45 degrees. Horn will blow if rotated 360 degrees from centered position

There is a "clock spring" that allows current to get from your horn button, through the steering wheel. Due to the spinning of the steerring wheel. This is a wound up flex circuit, and they can break. Sounds like yours has an issue. It's located behind the steering wheel and air bag.

I need to change the crank position sensor on 2005 Subaru Outback. Is this a do it yourself job? The local Subaru dealer wants $260 for the part and 1 hour labour. Where is it located and where can I find...

the sensor is located by the crankshaft pully and should have a 2 wire plug on it. as far 260 for the part, thats insane considering it's a 25 dollar part. you should be able to do it yourself
