2004 Acura MDX Water Leak

Every time it rains, the carpet on the front passenger side close to the door sill is saturated. I cannot visually see where weatherstriping is failing. Has anyone had a problem with this? I have Acura MDX 2004 - same problem (water leak) + Navigation, CD, power outlets - shotdown... I don't think my extended warranty can cover this... so...!?!?

The 2002 MDX I worked on turned out to be a drainage problem . Seems the factory installed foam in the bottom of the hinge pillar post which blocked the drain holes . Take off the mud flap , remove enough of the splash shield to access the bottom of the hinge pillar and drill a half inch hole at the front lower corner aiming the drill slightly upward ( be sure to protect the bare metal) .Water gushed out when I did this. For extra ins. remove the kick panels and check for two holes a few inchs from the floor, plug and chaulk these holes. Hope this worksfor you too

Appears its my turn on this probelm with a 2006 MDX. Does anyone out there have any more recent problems with this leakage and/or in deaing with ACURA on it? I live in Oregon and my car is turning into a boat. Dealership said "this is a common problem on MDX, something to to with the way it's manufactured we typically refer these to a AUTO BODY SHOP" - YIKES!. Yet, its not covered under my extended warranty. I asked what do they typically do to fix it? Dealership "I don't know we don't track the repairs after they leave the dealership". ME: I would think if its a common problem you would want to know what the resolution was" Dealership: No comment. They wanted $200 bucks to look at it (yet it's a common problem, so they should know what it is). We took the car home and called ACURA customer service. They said get it diagnosed first then call us back. Sounds like they've done this before, money first. We are in the midst of our own research first. Info appreciated.

My 02 MDX has the same problem. Where is the bottom of the hinge pillar post located exactly from Dacre53's solution?

My 2005 MDX was leaking water into both floorboards. The problem got really bad. Thanks to Dacre53 I have fixed the problem by following his directions that you posted and my nightmare has finally ended. I notifyed Acura in Calafornia and told them the problem and the simple fix. Also said to them that this water leak was due to a manafaturers defect and that there should be a recall,This really is such a simple fix by any dealer. If anyone owns this vehicle they should check under floormats after heavy rain.May have this problem and not even no it.

Ds3 water in passenger side carpet

What year is this vehicle? I'm assuming this is a DS from Renault? This is most likely rain or road spray getting in.
Try checking the simple stuff first. Are the windows on that side fully closed. Is the door on that side fully closed? Do you have a sunroof and is that closed correctly. Yes, I've made that mistake! Does the water have a smell? Is it in only one foot well or both?
Open the rear door on that side and check the carpet for wetness. Water can often flow from somewhere else to find the lowest point in the car. Take a very close look at the rubber seal around the door frame that the door presses against when you close it. Look for any rips, tears and any damage. Damage lets rain and road spray into the car. Do the same thing for the front door as well. If you have a sunroof sometimes the drain holes can clog with dirt causing the rain water to leak into the vehicle.
If the 'water' has a Sweet smell it is most likely coolant. This is coming from a small radiator, (a heater core/matrix), fitted under the dash. This supplies the heat to the blower vents on the dash and uses the engine coolant to do it. Although this sort of leak is usually in both front footwells as the heater core is mounted in the middleunder the dash.

I have a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche when it rains water comes inside the cab somehow carpet is soaked on drivers side and speakers on drivers side front and back will not play. Any idea where the water...

Check the seal around the drivers door. Try to determine the level of saturation as you move your hand from the door to the center console. If it is wetter closer to the door, this would indicate the door seal of the door window seals are damaged and need replacing.

My mdx is a 2001. the rug in the front driver side and passenger side is soakiing wet, its been rainy lately but not sure if this is rain doing it or is something leaking from my engine?

This may sound a little gross, but put your finger in it and touch it to the tip of your tongue. If it has a real sweet tate, it is antifreeze. In this case, you need to replace your heater core. If it just tastes like rain water, then it could be Coming from the windshield, the roof, the cowl area, or even the passenger door. I did search for Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) for your vehicle and found none pertaining to a known possible source of a water leak. Water leaks can be very frustrating when it comes to locating the exact source. You must just follow the water trail until you find the entry point.

Heavy rain leds to water on drivers side floor

you might want to peel the carpet back and check for hole in the floor board. this is not something you can see just by crawling under to look at. Light has to pass through. Carpet pulls up easy from under the pedals, remove thebottom of the door jam like four screws and then you will know for sure.

When it rains the driver and passenger side floor

If you are sure it's not the door seals, I would take it back to whoever replaced the windshield.

Passenger side carpet wet after it rains in a 2003 Acura MDX

check the bulkhead area under the wipers. the scuttle panel has a drain hole & tube that ducts rain water away but can become blocked by dirt and leaves etc, then the water builds up and flows backwards over the edge and down the back of the dashboard via the bulkhead joints. A knitting needle or welding rod can be used to poke the hole clear then test by pouring a small amount of water through the grille beside the wipers and ensure it runs away and does not sit.

Also check your coolant level, if it is down then the leak may be from the heater matrix inside the car, this is more difficult to fix and needs the dashboard removed in a lot of cars.

The 3rd possibility is a leaking windscreen surround. Silicone would fix that, get the black stuff and put a thin bead around the outer edge of the windscreen rubber and smooth neatly with a wet finger or cloth.

2002 Toyota RAV4 passenger side floor Water

Hi, we also have a 2002 Toyota Rav4 and developed a leak in the front driver's side of the car. After much research, we discovered that the drain wells from our sun/moon roof were clogged. If you have one of these, I suggest that you open the sun roof and look carefully. You will notice some tiny little holes in front and in the rear of the sun/moon roof tracks. Over time, these become clogged with dust and debris. You need to find a long, sturdy piece of thin wire and run it down the holes. To test if you have properly unclogged these, take a small amount of water and pour it down the holes. You should see water coming out of the drain wells under the car around the rear of the front tires. Hope this helps.
