Hello, what would happened if I try to cut off the EGR valve on my Volvo xc90 D5 MY2009?

The fault codes would come up and the car probably would not run right.

Of course you are aware that the only way to overcome the problem is to fix it as short cuts never work

If the switch itself is not faulty you probably have a short somewhere in the wiring harness.That could be hundres of places so I am not sure after that... Sorry

Diesel engines 100% have EGR valve. It sometimes gets stuck if the car is driven only short distances.

Volvo's are know for bad Dashboards. The circuit board processor on the back of the DIM Cluster goes bad. I had a shop in Richmond, VA fix mine for $275 out of the car. They will fix yours if you send it to them, here is the URL:

Black smoke is rich mixture, so something is wrong with the fuel management system. Get is connected to a pro grade scan tool computer and check long term and short term fuel trim. Check for fault codes on sensors.

most likely a failure in the horn contact under the steering wheel
there is a carbon button that is grounded oit on a brass insert in the base of the wheel

Why dose my 2002 Volvo xc90 d5 not start in the mornings

I have similar problem different vehicle, my ignition was not connecting well and the glow plugs were not initially getting properly hot, not sure how to fix it/ I disconnected the battery entirely and unplugged what I could and switched # 1 for #3 plug and waited overnight and charged the battery out of the truck, next day put all back and attached battery and started right up right since , so try take out battery and charge better first.

Loss of speed power and acceleration. Maximum revs at full throttle 3000rpm. No kick down. Seems the engine wants to die but doesnt do so.

Hello. First check any pipes on the engine has not come of and listen for any hissing noises as it could be too much air getting into the system. It is also worth checking the crank sensor and volvo do have problems with the EGR valves.

Hi, I have a Volvo XC90 D5 2007 with a dieselheater that won't start. What could be the reason for this. When I want to start it it says "on" for 2 seconds and then goes back to off.

one or more of your heater plugs are faulty
solution get heater plugs checked or renewed
even when your heater light goes out your plugs are still heating .so wait after the light goes out 20 seconds and see will your car start ,goodluck

Hi,

This is probably due to a problem with the swirl flap actuator arm - if you remove the top of the engine cover (the plastic bit) and look at the top, left front of the engine, do you see a plastic arm (approx 70 - 100 mm long) disconnected?
