One to drive the alternator ,waterpump etc and the other to drive the power steering pump and a/c Follow each belt and see what is being driven

It's a '99 Elantra, have you ever replaced the timing belt? It is a belt not a chaing, so it is very much should have the belt changed. After 13 years if you haven't done the belt yet now appears to be the time to change. I have an '05 and we changed it over a year now.

No, if the timing belt is louse must replaced with a new one. If it is louse can jump teeth, and change the timing, or broke and bend the valves or worse.

does the engine crank over after it quits? is there a red light with a battery symbol on the dash lit up?
have the alternator checked for the proper voltage output between 13.5 and 14.5 volts. the alternator can be tested while still on the engine by a murrays/oreillys parts store or an autozone parts store. it is also possible your fuel pump has failed and the fuel pressure needs to be tested to see if

is it the light control switch? i had that problem before. my electrician changed it to the old volkswagen type, the pull type. its cool. you can still use the beam selector and the flasher. you only have to pull the switch to turn it on.
