1990 toyota pickup has a 22re engine. The temp gauge is reaching half to a little past with air conditioner on. If I turn off air conditioner it will run little below half to half. Changed thermostat and still has the same issue. What could be the issue? I remember back in 2005 i had this same issue and the shop replaced the radiator and it was fine after that. Do i need to replace the radiator again? It is not leaking.

I did install the stock 195 temp gauge. So you are stating that this would make the difference in temp? I will try this and see what happens. I know yesterday it was 106 outside and the day before 103.

You can install a lower temp rated thermostat like 180 degrees instead of (195 stock)

Toyota pickup 1990 22r engine runs on sometimes when engine is turned off , temp normal

If this is a carby engine then there is a solenoid at the base of the carby that shuts off the idle circuit when the ignition is turned of. Check for gunk of faulty needle on that solenoid as run on means that there is still fuel /air mixture getting past the carby throttle plate.
and being ignited by hot spots in the combustion chamber.

Have 22re engine - truck runs great cold when warms up starts cuttin out?

i would look at the temp sensor. i believe when they fail, they peg out all the way cold or all the way hot. so your truck thinks it is still cold when you have reached operating temps, causeing your misfire.

What colors are the iat sensor wires on a 1990 toyota 22re

If you mean the intake air temp sensor, I'm not showing it being used on a 4 cyl pickup truck that uses a Mass Air Flow meter.
The models that use a sensor have a brown wire for power and a yellow black wire for the signal back to the computer.

1990 toyota pickup 22re engine runs hotter with ac on

If your car is running hot after replacing the thermostat try flushing the radiator which will usually make the car run cooler. Antifreeze raises the temperature of cars a bit and is not needed during the summer months if you live in a warm area. Make sure you put some in though by the time it becomes winter. There may be a lot of gunk in there that is causing it to heat up especially if any radiator leak was ever added to the system.

1993 TOYOTA PICKUP (V6) TEMPERATURE PROBLEM

the trans will not allow overdrive until coolant reaches roughly 180 degrees, if the guage shows cool and the trans is not upshifting, or downshifts to third while driving. the problem is either a sticking (or missing) thermostat. follow the lower radiator hose to the engine and find the three 12mm nuts, remove these to get to it. a new toyota t-stat will have a little bleed valve on its face. position it upwards when installing. hope this is helpful.
P.S. Happy New Year

1990 toyota 22re 4 speed has vacuum pressure in the valve cover

THIS is normal on a lot of import engines. you have a pcv valve that pulls vacuum on engine to **** out gases. when you remove the cap it is like a vacuum leak. if engine runs fine otherwise it is normal.
