I have a coolant leak and I am not sure but I may have found where it is coming from, when I took off the front, bottom plastic protector I was able to trace the leak to what looks like the bottom hose that comes out of the radiator and it goes into a pump or something. It appears as though it is leaking at that "pump" gasket but I am not sure. It is at the front of the engine and I am not sure if that is the leak or just another part of the path that the coolant is taking. Does anyone have any ideas about this leak and if it is something that an average Joe could fix?
Sounds like your water pump is probably leaking but do a quick look above to make sure its not leaking down from above
water pumps arnt that hard to do you will have to loosten the belt and probably remove the fan\
just get your self a repair manuall
The coolant is more than likely leaking from the water pump "weep" hole. If you were to remove the water pump pulley you would be able to see the coolant track and weep hole.
The leak is an indicator that the seal and/or bearing is wearing out and the water pump needs to be replaced.
If you have some common tools, time and patience, you would be able to change the pump your self. It requires draining the cooling system, removing accessory brackets and hardware then removing and replacing the water pump.
Good luck, let me know.
