It is the sensor located under the dashboard area. you can buy another one off the internet for 50.00. with instructions on how to remove the old one and then send it back for your deposit back. however, my light also comes on and off when the weather changes. i would ignore it unless it stays on for a few days. all it means is your airbag isnt working. i lived most my life without airbags.

1998 jeep cherokee

Sounds like it could be a problem with the ignition switch. Does the vehicle stall or keep running? Do the lights go out or do the stay on until you cycle the key? Have you tried Turing the key a little back and forth when this happens to see if the problem goes away?

My 1999 jeep grand cherokee has an air bag light on

The sensor is out and you will have to replace it. It is expensive. Or you just will not have an air bag deploy if you have a front end accident. Personally the light on the dash does not bother me for the 300 dollars it was going to cost to replace all the stuff needed to make air bag in the stering wheel work. Hope that helpes

Jeep cherokee 1998--After replacing steering wheel and original air bag the' air bag' dashboard light keeps on and also 'check gauges' light comes on and off. do i need a new air bag or is there a cheaper...

well the check guages and airbag lights are most likely not related, the airbag is most likely the clockspring contact under the steering wheel is defective, check guages means you have a gauge that is reading a problem like low oil pressure or overheating, this can be the body control module causing this as well..

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Air Bag Light

See if the light comes on and off sitting still turning the wheel back and forth and running the tilt up and down. If it does replace the clockspring behind the steering wheel. Remember to disconnect the battery to do the repair. Also when finished, turn the key on BEFORE connecting the battery back up. That way if anything went wrong, it won't deploy in your face. Hope this helps.

Airbag light indicator: Jeep Grand Cherokee 1997

there are many sensors and and each airbag have sensors so you will have to get it scanned to know where to start. just a note air bag parts can be very expensive so check out your local salvage yard. they can save you hundreds. good luck
