Did you clear the codes after playing with the wires and injectors ?
Have you checked for injector pulse on all 6 injectors ?

Oops, wrong spot...I did clear the codes. That's when I get the p0303 code which I did clear again. "Have you checked for injector pulse on all 6 injectors?" How do you check for injector pulse? I just learned recently as well, that the engine is also getting hot-to the point of overheating if I continue to drive it.
Well the overheating could be a head gasket which could also cause the miss problem. A mechanic checks injector pulse with a low voltage test light. The engine computer grounds each injector when it is needed.
The overheating was due to a bad thermostat so I replaced it. That dealt with the overheating. I ran a compression test on all 4 cylinders. Cylinder 1 was 140, 2 135, 3 130 and 4 130. No il on spark plug, out the exhaust but there is blow by into the air box. This still doesn't explain the miss on cylinder 4.

make sure the trottle if free of carbon built if is not clean it with toot brush and carburetor cleaner

Here are a few things to check that aren't that exspencive to do. check you'r o2 scener and the map scencer.try tapping on the cadiletice convertor to see if can hear any rattling if there is any rattliling the cadiletice converter could be clogged and will need to be replaced. You can also have the emission control module tested to see if it working properly.

Hi
Check for plugged exhaust system. If plugged will cause overheating and misfiring of all cylinders.
SOURCE: I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2L,
The plenum problem should not affect compression tests. It allows oil to get sucked into the intake and will cause carbon buildup, plug fouling, and pinging. If you have zero compression on a cylinder, it is usually a valve problem. Even a burned piston will make some compression, unless it has a big hole in the middle.
Sorry, but if your compression results are to be trusted (and it seems they are), then you have to tear a head off to find the problem, or at least get a borescope in it.
